Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 26, 2009 8:44 pm I went to check on our houses progress today and noticed that there has been a site start on our neighbouring block. The site has been pegged out, waiting for the slab to be poured. I re-measured our block and I am concerned that several of the pegs etc for my future neighbours garage are encroaching into my block by approach 300mm. I have not yet met our neighbour, nor is there any evidence on the block as to who the builder is. Any suggestions who I should contact to ensure a mistake is not made? I am building in a stocklands estate (hawkstowe-south morang) so I am thinking that stocklands should be my fisrt port of call. Built in now city 2009, now moving to the country to embark on another build. I would definitely try stocklands, or even the council as they would have the building application (and therefore details of the builder) Hope you can sort it out Re: help- neighnour building on our land 4Sep 26, 2009 9:30 pm The pegs from my builder on my block outlined the rough outlines, it wasn't the actual slab size so it might be similar 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Re: help- neighnour building on our land 6Sep 27, 2009 8:51 am As mudmap said, they will be offset pegs. That being said, it sounds like the garage may be on the boundary if the pegs are 300mm into your land (I would assume if the garage was 1 metre off the boundary, the pegs would be on the boundary line and not on your property) Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: help- neighnour building on our land 7Sep 27, 2009 10:40 am Don't panic, we had exactly the same situation - and if you wander around the estate, you'll find most sites are pegged out this way. I'm betting your neighbours are building to 1m of the boundary, so there isn't a lot of room for the builders to work with. Once the slab area is boxed up, you'll see that it's not encroaching on your land at all. It's good that your neighbours are starting now - it's a pain when they don't start till after you move in. You get months of noise and dust, and inconsiderate tradies chucking their rubbish in your front yard, stomping through your newly landscaped beds and generally being a nuisance. It's better for you if they get some of it over and done with now. I don't think you're getting a response because you are not quite clear on what the issue is. yep, the site is not level, no site is! but are you just building a garage?… 1 2268 Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum. Place is full of wierdos/pedos thought internet may help but I suppose I'll try my luck with someone in person. Cheers. I tried… 0 6448 Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above? Both left and right… 0 24876 |
