Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 24, 2009 9:15 pm To anyone who have been through a knock-down-rebuild in Brisbane - I'd like to know what the process is. We want to sell/relocated the old house. 1) Engage a certifier for approval to relocate old house 2) Remove old house 3) Get plans for the new house approved by Council Is it possible to get step 3 done before step 2? Do I need to have the old building physically removed, before council can approve the new plans for construction? This is an issue for me because we would be left without a/any house should the new plans come back unapproved by Council? Can anyone confirm and let me know if I'm missing anything else in this process? Thank you in advance! Re: Knock-down/rebuild process - Brisbane 2Sep 25, 2009 7:16 am We are selling our house for relocation. It is the buyer's responsibility to get a certificate of aesthetics (or whatever it is called) for their new location (No 1). And as the seller I have found there is nothing you can do to hurry this along. This wait is certainly the most frustrating part for us (at least so far as we're still waiting LOL!). Our builder is sympathetic - we have signed a contract but he hasn't required us to pay the deposit, but you could get into a really sticky situation quite easily - touch wood! There is no reason you can't get No 3 done at any time. Ring your specific council just to check, but this seems to have been the process for everyone I've talked to. That is good to know new plans can be approved before the actual relocation of the old house as we're still living in it. So if possible we'd like to lessen the time in between as much as possible.
