Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 22Sep 26, 2009 1:16 pm gez85 I am looking at Ross North Homes, Celebrations, Aussie Living & Scott Park homes - anyone had any good or bad experiences with these people? We signed with Scott Park Homes and are waiting for our final plans following pre-start. So far they have been good to deal with, no complaints. Some of the timeframes are a little long at the moment as they are so busy though, but I think that's the case with many builders. I have a friend who built with Ross North and he has no complaints about them. There are a few people building with Celebration and Scott Park Homes on this forum, have a hunt around for other peoples' threads and you'll get an idea of what they are like New beginnings. Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 23Sep 26, 2009 5:50 pm My OH used to work on those homes (he's a sparky), and from his experience, the build is just as bad. The houses would take twice as long than houses around them in the same area. Poorly run. And as you can see, they are desperate for money most likely because of this poor reputation. We made the mistake of going into their houses and had the most pushiest salesperson. Never again. Broadway is affiliated with them and I'd go running from them too - we inquired about a house price, it was out of our budget, so after my Thank You but no Thanks email, without my permission they gave my contact details (I have my ph number in my signature for work) to Affordable and had them calling for weeks, after saying I didn't want to build through them. Grrrrr....... Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 25Sep 29, 2009 2:14 pm Well unfortunately I signed with Affordable yesterday. It was pretty awkward as my partner was fighting and bickering with the sales guy the whole way through me initialling the contract - turns out there is a HIA Contract, that was all fine but the builders special conditions is what they had sent me & what I had a problem with. They told me if I had gone with another builder they would sue me for loss of profit as they introduced me to the block. Also my block is pretty small - 15wide by 22 long and not many houses would fit on it & come in under my budget as I am doing this all on my own I am on a very tight budget. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that everything goes smooth from here. My father spoke to the WA Manager and told him he would be watching the building very closely & as he is an engineer he will notice if they are doing anything wrong. Main problem I have is that I have to pay the curb bond, and they said that unless I have video surveillance that their subbies damage anything, they wont be fixing it. The guy was a total jerk, he was saying "why should we have to pay for something that we havent damaged" and we were saying... who else is likely to damage it? It's unlikely that I will be the one to damage anything so it's not fair.. anyway all that aside, I got the 21k & I am hoping for a positive experience after this horrible one to date. Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 26Oct 01, 2009 1:55 am gosh! i dont think they can sue you... when i almost signed with them, they practically begged me to keep the block in the least (the block they showed me) , i think they get commission on that too...and we refused...and no one talked about suing... i understand you had to do what u had to do...good luck and i sincerely wish you have a smooth run... Mate I would've laughed in that peanuts face then slapped him upside the head before tearing up the contract and walking out. Seriously if after all that you still signed, your asking for it I reckon. Hopefully nothing bad happens but you can't say that you wheren't, how could I say.. forewarned? Building with CELEBRATION HOMES @ THE GLADES in BYFORD W.A. My Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19512&p=249550#p249550 Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 28Oct 01, 2009 10:40 am OMG, I can't believe that they have been so terrible. Doesn't make for a pleasant building experience. I would take it to A current affair or something once your house is finished and see how many others come out with the same sort of experience. Make sure you document everything, every phone call, and keep every e-mail and any communication. Good luck with it all, I hope it goes as smooth as it can. Hopefully they took in what your dad said, and do the right thing. Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 29Oct 01, 2009 12:34 pm gez85 I have left a message for the sales guys manager & spoken to consumer affairs. Need to figure out how keystart will work if I just purchase the land now though... I am looking at Ross North Homes, Celebrations, Aussie Living & Scott Park homes - anyone had any good or bad experiences with these people? I am feeling very paranoid about all these builders after this experience. They have * to me about everything & added over 11k of variations in the contract they want me to sign. On top of what every one has said.. Hope you have walked away. Its not worth it the way that particular builder has treated you. You could go direct to the land developer and get that particular land allocated to you. Was any deposit made to the land developer? or the deposit was only to the Affordable living? I am with Keystart, Im not sure at what stage you with them, but you will need a house and land for finance approval. So which means.. you can get the land submit to them and then look for a builder and provide them a copy of your deposit. And final approval is only after you have the contract submitted. Kick affordable living out, worry about getting the deposit later, but do let them know you want it. And focus on moving on with the land and looking for other builder. Go forward. On builders : Strike aussie living out. Celebration homes has alot of good feeback. Then comes Scott Park Homes and Ross North. But then still it depends. My advice other than your "bad experience builders" Look at all plans of builders. Compare all specs.. Choose plans that you like, Compare with land you have.. Do your own calculation to place your "house to be" on your selected land..remember you will need at least 1.5m on both sides. (rough estimate) and then you have your builder. Then do a research on your builder, ask around.. At least you have narrowed down your selection. Remember some have good experience on the builder above and there are some who had it bad.. But not as bad as remarks made from Affordable Living. So its not easy..Sorry for the long story as there are some things you might have already known.. good luck.. OMG why would you sign with them after all the trouble you have had Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! My building thread..viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19421 Brickies started 5/10 Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 31Oct 01, 2009 1:10 pm I decided to sign with them because the best way for me to get out of all of this legally is to sign with them & then sabotage my finance... I am on a savings plan to get my deposit amount before applying with keystart so if i dont put enough in there the finance falls through & i get out of it all.. I spoke to a few lawyers and it was getting extremely messy & the time was running out to sign the contract and to get the 21k. Just hope it goes smoothly.. Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 34Oct 01, 2009 2:29 pm Good luck with everything Gez85 I am sure everything will be fine once the building starts. We also have a small cottage block in Aveley. Yes we were pretty restricted with what could fit on. In the long run I think you will have a very good investment there for the future. Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 35Oct 01, 2009 2:36 pm Best of luck with your build, whoever you end up going with You're going to get good and bad builders no matter who you go with. I'm with Aussie Living myself and have nothing but good things to say about them. But there's probably people out there who hated their build with Aussie. Same with S1im0nds, or PD or whoever the builder is. My advice is to read everything, and ask a billion questions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Affordable Living Homes - anyone built with them? 36Jul 06, 2013 12:35 pm Hi all, My fiance and I went to Affordabale Living Homes and after talking to the sales rep there, we signed up for house and land package. Signed the form that says we cannot change the structure of the building anymore and the prelim document. Paid $2000 as deposit. After a few days, we are not happy anymore with them for various reasons, mainly the reviews and the attitude of the company. I called the sales manager and told him I want to pull out for personal reasons, he asked me what that personal reason is. I told him it IS a personal reason and he pushed further: I need to know that personal reason. He was very rude. I told him my company cannot grant me full time employment anymore. So he asked me for a written proof from my company that I have no full time work which is fine because HR are my friends. Then the sales manager asked me to come in and run through "things" on Tuesday. He asked me if I want them to cancel the land too and I said no because I want to keep the land. I just don't want to build with them anymore. I spoke to the sales rep today and asked about the deposit. He said I will not get my deposit back because in the documents that we signed, it states that the deposit is non-refundable. Well, he did not give me any document copies until today. When I asked about them, he said it will take 3 weeks to prepare them so now we have nothing for reference like what we signed, what are the rules and stuff like that. And from the posts that I read from there, someone was told he will get sued by Affordable Living Homes if he went with another builder. And I also read other stories about you guys getting your deposit back. What can I do to get my deposit back and avoid lawsuit? I am very scared. Please help me. I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me. Our builder did the same. Got hundreds of thousands of dollars of… 2 15390 wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13821 Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 5713 |
