Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 2Sep 24, 2009 9:57 am We have gone for NSW 75mm colonial skirting and the reason was just was because we like them. We would've preferred to get the larger one but it would've been too expensive. They are probably a b**ch to clean, especially we got them in white, but we love them. Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 3Sep 24, 2009 6:50 pm Choice is purely aesthetic. I guess some could hold a little bit of dust more than another. The height would be irrelevant as the profile itself is the same with the flat face part being the difference in heights I have 140mm NSW Colonial skirting painted white, I wouldn't say they get dirty Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 4Sep 24, 2009 8:49 pm We are going with 100mm half splayed skirting. We are trying to choose items that are timeless and will not go out of fashion. I just feel that colonial will look outdated in years to come, but that's my opinion I guess, each to their own! Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 5Sep 24, 2009 10:45 pm It depends on the house. Big colonial skirtings are in with some styles - we regulary run 180mm and 230mm skirtings Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 6Sep 25, 2009 8:00 am Thanks to all who replied. Im inclined towards colonial as my other half prefers that look. Builder providing skirting size of 68mmX12mm and architraves of 42mmX12mm is that too small? Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 7Sep 25, 2009 10:14 pm It is small but standard for spec kit homes Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 8Sep 25, 2009 10:33 pm What kind of cost are you looking at (with the larger builders) for upgrading the standard skirtings/architraves? Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 9Sep 26, 2009 3:01 pm Havnt asked the builder for upgrade as i thought what they are providing was std size and dont want to spend any more money on it. Have other things which i am planning on upgrading like tiles which may have better resale value for home. Re: Colonial or Bullnose Skirtings and Architraves 10Oct 01, 2009 9:07 am ibfragalot99 What kind of cost are you looking at (with the larger builders) for upgrading the standard skirtings/architraves? Upgraded skirting/architraves from standard(68x12) to half splayed 90x18 skirting and standard(42x12) to 67x18 architraves = $600.00. Price of standard cornice upgrade to csr 75mm symphony= $1500.00 (I'll pass on this one). Cheers Michael He wants a dream home theatre - she wants a dream kitchen!
