Wow - they must have designed the estate's cabling differently to ours then. CP is set up so that only every second house can get broadband as they share a port hub. There are a lot of frustrated people here, that's for sure - we even have a designated thread for it on our intranet!
I even have some that have asked me to notify them the very day that we disconnect ours before we move to the new house so they can take our connection! Not sure if it works that way, but happy to try to help them.
Keep me posted as to how you go, I know how hard it is to not have the internet as before we moved here, we had dialup in Wyndham Vale, but we only moved into that house during the build process. Believe it or not, before moving there, I was on mega high speed broadband in Geelong. I find it hard to believe that the closer to Melbourne you are, you just can't get internet as good as those further away.
(In WV we were offered the rebate for satellite connection but we only stayed there for approx 9 months so just didn't use the internet)
We actually didn't believe that the companies could supply us with broadband here until it was connected and working - which is testament to all the promises that we heard over in WV. The companies tell you over the phone or to your face that they can get you broadband, then around a month later, still nothing, so you ring up and they say "sorry we can't help you, you can't get it". Hopeless. I can't tell you how many times we had the broadband man doorknocking ... honestly they just don't get it.
The new house is over in old werribee so I'm excited as we will have CABLE!!
