Re: disaster? 7Sep 23, 2009 11:05 pm you would think the brickies would pick it up that they dont match and the roof etc doesnt match.. bricks are to far out from the windows etc good luck hopefully they have answers! Harrisdale backyard finally done! Re: disaster? 8Sep 23, 2009 11:16 pm so you dont think its the roofline not going down far enough? it's at the side of our house we only noticed today by chance... rest of the house was looking good i am so distraught right now (( i've emailed the builder the pictures to please explain... i'll take it from there i guess?? Re: disaster? 10Sep 24, 2009 8:11 am Princess1 so you dont think its the roofline not going down far enough? You cant tell 100% from the photo but it definately looks like they are a row of bricks short. Maybe there is insufficent clearance between the facia and top row of bricks which is why they couldnt put them in. The roof may not come out quite far enough. Difficult from the photo. Very strange... Make sure you reply with what they say!! Re: disaster? 13Sep 24, 2009 9:12 am OMG Hope it is easy to fix fingers crossed for you they get back to you straight away!! Re: disaster? 16Sep 24, 2009 10:12 am So, how do they propose to finish the top of the wall? Have you checked your plans to see what they show? That fascia join is ******* too - I wouldn't accept it.... Re: disaster? 17Sep 24, 2009 10:15 am just spoke to the builder he advised it's on the plans & there will be a colourbond capping or something put over the top?? i'm not happy & extremely confused... i'm stuck at work so i can't go out to the property i think we need someone who knows what they're talking about to assist... the builder advised the reason why they did this was because there needs to be whatever distance from the fence/neighbour...my husbands calling council now to find out... Re: disaster? 18Sep 24, 2009 10:24 am Can you post your floorplan? I don't think you have a problem actually. I'm not sure how well I'll explain this so bare with me. It looks like the top of the bricks line up with the guttering, so the guttering will sit over the bricks, so they form the same boundary. There will be capping over the bricks, then a gap to the guttering. I can't find a pic, but it's exactly how they do it over garages when they are built on the boundary so that there is no guttering overhanging. I'd say this was the absolute limit you could build to including guttering, so this was the solution to maximise your floorspace. To have normal guttering, the internal floorspace would have had to be reduced to bring the wall back in. Hard to tell from the pic and without seeing your working drawings, but I *think* that's what is happening. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: disaster? 19Sep 24, 2009 10:29 am I'd say Joles is right, but this should have been explained to you from the start. Our garage boundary wall is done that way, and it was pointed out to us on the plans and explained clearly long before we started. There's a pic here somewhere of a garage wall done this way - I'll see if I can find it so you can see what we're talking about. Some builders aren't great at communication.... Re: disaster? 20Sep 24, 2009 10:33 am This is from a thread about garage walls on boundaries, but the construction method would be the same if Joles is right and your house wall is right at the limit of the side setback: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Check your plans - there should be a detail drawing of the gutters along that wall section. |
