How annoying for you. Sometimes these council people are just plain ridiculous. They wanted us to change our roof tiles coz they were too dark. I nearly flipped coz 2 houses on our street, one is a corner neighbour, already had the exact same roof tile on and we knew of other houses that had an even darker roof tile already up. So we argued that, so that said ok - but then they found something else to dislike on our facade - nothing major, but just completely irrational and for no valid reason. Yours is a far greater dilemma, so I really, really hope that they come to their senses. Best of Luck. Re: NBG Manhattan - council dramas... 435Jul 07, 2010 9:35 pm You may find the Council may want you to site your house further back. The builder should know this prior to anything being signed and sealed. I guess that is where they make their money. The builder, if he is local should consult with you and you should not be charged for making any changes. It really sucks that they can get away with it. But threaten Council if you have to. It also depends on where your driveway is situated as to whether Council will approve the plans. Thank heavens I am building one block up from a corner in Bacchus Marsh. Re: NBG Manhattan - council dramas... 437Jul 08, 2010 9:13 pm Glad you are being so positive Row, it is hard when you have issues like this totally out of your control but effects your build so much. Our issue was the bc measured our setback to our neighbours porch too but the council measured it from the neighbours house not the porch. They classed the porch as an attatched portico & not the actual house - do you get what I am saying. It made no sense to me at the time. So we did the council thing & paid our money & was done & no changes were made. So all that nonsense for nothing. Hope yours is the same just in less time. Goodluck shopping for your theatre accessories! Re: NBG Manhattan - council dramas... 438Jul 09, 2010 7:39 pm Thanks Jodie. That's great news. Well that means that our actual building is only 34cm (yes cm!) forward than our neighbour. This is if you don't count the porch (which is only 3m setback not 5m). I seriously doubt they would argue over 34cm.....they just couldn't...so.....fingers crossed it'll just be a paper exercise (& boosting the council coffers) like yours was! Cheers.
Re: NBG Manhattan - council dramas... 440Jul 10, 2010 3:58 pm How frustrating Ro I hope that they can get it all sorted in less than 3 weeks so that you can get your slab down and get this house started!! You are always so positive and handle everything so well That's not a bad price to upgrade the theatre system and probably well worth it if you can afford it. Thinking of you and hoping that it gets resolved quickly and easily Bek I'm back |
