Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 23, 2009 7:51 am Good Morning I am getting a house built and realized the builder has used tiles from two different batches one is light in color and the other one is darker in SAME area. When requested, I got the below reply from the builder. "The tiles that you indicated in your earlier email are all cut tiles. Your selected tile has several series of patterns which give a variation of light and shade through each tile. A cut tile will provide colour variation when compared to a whole tile as the cut tile will have limited pattern variation due to the fact that all of the pattern is not represented". I would like to know the above is true or not. Also, If I have a problem like that, whom should I contact except Consumer Affairs / Building Commission as this takes ages. Re: Tiling 2Sep 23, 2009 8:30 am What do they mean when they say they are cut tiles? Can you provide some info on where the tiles are located and how they are cut? My tiler was concious of there being different batches when he started the job so made sure they were from the same batch. Even though he did a terrible job he sounded like cared.... He replaced 40 of our tiles this week that were unacceptable. Sounds like a tricky situation which you'd really need your builder to assist with, not sure who you could take it further through though.
