Choosing tiles/carpet 143Jun 21, 2010 8:01 pm Frogger have you been out to look at the standard tiles and carpet?? (I'm sure you'll be in well before I am ) I went out there months ago... their carpet range was pretty ordinary but there were quite a few tiles I liked (the benefits of liking beige I guess ) P. Re: Piper's House - Lock-up! Pics pg7. Choosing tiles/carpet 144Jun 21, 2010 8:24 pm yeah the carpet choices are that good...I just upgraded the underlay. At least you won't have the drama over the tiles like I did. They never answered me about the additional charges for my floor tiles....but they never charged me, so there is some comfort in knowing that you won't be charged to use the glazed porcelain. Re: Piper's House - Carpet and tile selections done! 145Jun 23, 2010 12:03 pm Well, my carpet and tile selections are all done! I have no feature tiles, no colours and no borders but I'm very happy with my choices: Carpet: a medium brown carpet (doesn't have a name, just #22) Floor tile (including shower bases): Ivory Gloss (45cx45cm) Kitchen/Laundry Splashback: Ivory Gloss (30cmx10cm) Shower walls and tiling around the bath/toilet: Shanghi Tofu (30cmx40cm) - pretty much the same as the ivory gloss, but the ivory gloss didn't come in a wall tile so this was the closest I could get What can I say? I'm looking forward to accessorising P. Re: Piper's House - Carpet and tile selections done! 146Jun 23, 2010 2:14 pm Me too Piper! (so to speak) After circling the house about 12 times to see if I could figure out what else had been done, I realised the bricks had also been washed. And I also spotted the TV antenna cable installed. I think there were other little plumbing things (caps on the taps etc) too. And now for the photos: My beautiful clean bricks - so in love with the colour: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The garage (complete with walls being held up by my little one ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My bedroom and the corner of the alfresco: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The sideway, with one of the drain pipes: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The TV antenna cable: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the main attraction of this weeks tour, the bathroom (with the first eager bather lined up and ready to go!) : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ P. Went to the house today and the plaster is up.. the whole house looks completely different. And, as predicted it looks just the right size now, definitely bigger than it did pre-plaster (I'll never understand that ) One thing I'm a little concerned about is my wall colour - I decided to not go with a white, but ended up with Wattyl Donkey 1/4 strength. I'm just hoping that this isn't going to be too dark and make the rooms look small. First thing I did (with thanks/sympathy to Frogger for this) was to check that the insulation in the walls was in. It was a little difficult, but I found a small gap in the wall and stuck my finger in and sure enough - insulation. I also noticed some off cuts out the front later, so I'm pretty sure it's all good. I took a photo to prove it to myself when I start second guessing later on.. http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-56.jpg So here's my garage (I notice that they've plastered over the door that connects the garage and the house - I'm wondering if this is for security and will be fixed later...??): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And here is the solar panel for the hot water service: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The internal roof on the alfresco (I'm thinking this gets special waterproofing attention later on - given that it's outside???): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And now for the inside... the entry/hallway: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The study: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My little one's room (I was surprised that it's not as dark as I expected, even with the roof and walls in and on a fairly overcast day): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The laundry: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-36.jpg The bathroom: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-38.jpg The kitchen: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-41.jpg The kitchen, dining and family room: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-45.jpg The dining and family room (from the other end of the room): http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-43.jpg My room: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-46.jpg My room looking at the WIR and ensuite: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-48.jpg The ensuite, I love my shower niche: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-53.jpg http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100704-52.jpg I noticed that all the cornices were onsite so I'm thinking they'll go up next and then I'm hoping the cabinets will start (I cant wait to see the colours)! P. Re: Piper's House - Plastered!! .... pics pg 8 151Jul 04, 2010 1:07 pm Looks great Since being on H1, I've learnt not to assume anything with the build. I read recently on another thread about plaster for the ceiling in the alfresco. Apparently this chap's alfresco had mould because the builder installed inside ceiling plaster instead of one for the outdoors Also re: door in garage. In another thread when the person had a pre inspection she wondered where the heating vents were in the ceiling? The heater had been installed in the roof but they had not cut the holes in the plaster for the vents Hmm, it seems really obvious but I guess some things get missed. Always best to check. On a more positive note - the house is really coming along well The alfresco area looks like a great place to chill. Looking forward to seeing the cabinetry going in Re: Piper's House - Plastered!! .... pics pg 8 152Jul 04, 2010 8:29 pm Glad to hear that DD's room is light enough P! I'm so happy that everything is working out well for you. Are you getting an inspector in?? I'd recommend it. Where are they up to now? Are your cornices in? I'd recommend it. Where are they up to now? Are your cornices in? Hey there... every time I go out to my house I think of you and I swear we must be using different builders I went out on Thursday and saw that the doors were in, I also saw the wood for the architraves on the floor. So I figured the cabinets would go in next week. But I decided to drive up there today to take some photos (forgot my camera on Thursday) and imagine my surprise when I saw all my cabinets in!! I thought long and hard about getting an inspector in, I also read many. many threads on here about it. In the end I decided not to. Guess I'll either regret it or not Anyway, one and all, here are some pics - sorry about the quality but I'm well and truly locked out now so I had to go through the windows: My little one's room, complete with wardrobe and bedroom door (which I pointed out to my daughter with the explanation that it was the thing she'd be slamming angrily in 5-10 years when Mummy sent her to her room ) http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100718-07MinorRoom.jpg My bedroom: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100718-12MyBedroom.jpg My ensuite: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100718-13Ensuite.jpg The laundry: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100718-10Laundry.jpg The kitchen: http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100718-17Kitchen.jpg http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo276/sjs137/20100718-18Kitchen.jpg I'm thinking that I'll get my fixing invoice next week, or have I forgotten about something else they need to do before that?? ... anyone??
