Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 21, 2009 1:23 pm Hi all, Just started construction works in Newbury Village Craigieburn with M. Talbot 28. Been a long drawn out process to get to this stage, but thankful it has arrived and hoping for not a 260 odd day build time.... Anyway, when i drove past the site on the weekend, i noticed the 'site scrap' had been done and the carpark looks about 2 metres too close to the boundary fence (i.e. 2m instead of 4m). Is it normal for them to dig further than they need. If they plan to situate the house in the 'wrong' location, our outdoor area is going to be in the neighbors property? (i have talked to M, are they are looking into it.... just wanted to get some feedback from others if possible) Also, M told me that i will not hear from my Site supervisor until the base, frame and roof are complete... Is this normal... Cheers Dave Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 2Sep 21, 2009 3:03 pm Davefurnell Also, M told me that i will not hear from my Site supervisor until the base, frame and roof are complete... Is this normal... Cheers Dave according to the Henley Home manual, you're supposed to get a weekly update. Good luck with that though. I'm lucky to hear once a month Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 3Sep 21, 2009 6:47 pm I'm building the talbot with metricon in craigieburn too...mt ridley. ha ha ha ha I haven't heard from our SS ONCE yet and we're almost finished bricking, in fact i've only heard from our csc because i have been e mailing her because they keep sending us invoices before work is complete! Building the Talbot with the big M!! Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 4Sep 21, 2009 8:05 pm Hey Dave, We'r building the Santorini 26 with M* & are just waiting on our site start! I was under the impression that we are supposed to meet with our SS before the build and then have update calls from either them or the CSC weekly. Im sure I read this on the M*tricon website & on other threads on this forum! Lets hope they are not over worked and under staffed now with the First Home buyers rush that they start to cut corners! Gee Calzo that's unbelievable that you haven't met your SS yet! Have either of you been given a reason or explanation for this? If you read through the M* buying and building guide on their website and go to the Construction dowload pages you'l find this at the botton of page 2; 'Someone should contact you at least once a week to let you know where we’re up to' I was just thinking about all of this and i don't get how they expect you to sign off on the base & frame stages if you don't even have any contact with your SS! I mean, we are not supposed to go near the house without making an appointment with SS to do so ( im sure nobody abides by this, I wont, Il be there everyday! ) but if we are meant to follow their rules then how are we supposed to sign off at these stages and hand over our money? Iv heard people say that they have had about 5 different SS throughout their build with M* but this is just ridiculous! Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 7Sep 22, 2009 12:01 am I also think the M setup is really strange my SS from coral calls at least once a week (so far - don't jinx me ) if not more, and prior to the start date you are sent a letter stating the official start date and giving you your SS's full name and mobile number, and the contruction managers full name and mobile number... 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 8Sep 22, 2009 9:48 am Shelz Hey Dave, Gee Calzo that's unbelievable that you haven't met your SS yet! Have either of you been given a reason or explanation for this? Nup...but have tried calling and e mailing to no avail, i keep getting messages and no answers. Very frustrating. We're almost finished the third stage and have had not one phone call... Building the Talbot with the big M!! Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 9Sep 22, 2009 11:04 am I was told by My CSC that there is no need to talk to the site supervisor up until they start inside. They said that this would make the process quicker without interruptions... I dont mind too much not talking to them if the house goes up fast... It is a good point on paying progress payments?? but i will pay them without delay anyway, i need to move into this house tomorrow... Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 10Sep 22, 2009 11:24 am Just be careful as M have issued all the invoices before the work has been completed...in the case of the slab the week before. I don't think that is right at all. They have us down for finishing lock up tomorrow but i don't see that happening and i guarantee you they will send an invoice anyway! Building the Talbot with the big M!! Re: Building Talbot 28 in Craigieburn 11Sep 22, 2009 3:09 pm My cousin who built with M* had the same issue regarding the invoice being sent before completion of lock up stage. She rang head office complained and refused to make pmt and they were very apologetic and got straight to work on completing that stage. She didn't pay a thing untill she was satisfied! I completely understand what you are saying Dave as we need to be in asap aswell. Im sick of practically living out of a suitcase at mums, but you also want to make sure that everything is done correctly. My cousin had so many problems with the house but because she picked them up in time they rectified everything! I must say though that I dont intend on being as picky about everything as she was because it ended up meaning that her house build went 5months over contract! Im hoping that ours will be done within the 260day contract at the latest. One can only hope!!!
