Timber in Less Price or Timber Auction 3Sep 21, 2009 1:31 pm solid timber what?? you post is a little vague Re: Has anyone buy Timber directly from shop for timber flooring 5Sep 21, 2009 2:46 pm I assume you are talking about tongue and groove flooring?? You still didn't say. You can buy packs of both T&G and decking from auctions at Smithfield. The prices are cheap, but you can't return it and the packs are ususally very heavy in 'shorts' i.e. not too much over 2 1/2 metres in length. Other than that prices for those 2 species you mentioned start at around $38 per sq. metre for feature grade in 80mm x 19mm boards Re: Has anyone buy Timber directly from shop for timber flooring 6Sep 21, 2009 6:17 pm Dukekamaya I assume you are talking about tongue and groove flooring?? Would you please give me contact info about smithfield Thankyou Simpson Re: Has anyone buy Tonnue and groove timber flooring in auction 7Sep 21, 2009 9:18 pm I don't have contact details sorry. Auction listings are generally in The Sydney Morning Herald Re: Has anyone buy Tonnue and groove timber flooring in auction 8Sep 22, 2009 9:16 am Hi Simpson - I've previously bought timber at Laws Auction. Go to www.lawsauctions.com.au. You can view the timber in Sydney (Wetherill Park) on the weekends and they have displays of the polished samples of the different species (at the back of the warehouse... floating floor is at the front). In our current house we got Sydney Blue from laws but for our new house we have decided to go with select timber (grey ironbark). Auction Timber is about $25 - $30 per square metre. If you go for this timber you will need to buy and additional 30% on top of what you require for wastage as the quality in the auction timber can sometimes vary depending on the species. I think some species you have to allow 50% for wastage... Standard Grade & A Grade Timber is $60 - $100 per square metre. Depending on the species. Then you will have to get plywood to lay the timber on top of as well, but if you are getting someone to lay it for you then they should worry about all that for you. Thanks Mark, i'll give them a call. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15838 Hi All, we are starting to think of building with Masterpiece Builders in Victoria, has anyone had any feedback or experience with them 0 13466 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently.
