DH will just love that one Re: dilla's place - we've got curtains! 943Nov 20, 2010 1:48 pm Finally we've got some curtains and blinds They were ordered about 9 weeks ago, they told me that we would have them installed by 5 weeks, 6 weeks max. 8 weeks later after I chased them up they said that they would have them in the store later that week and would be installed the week after. Thursday rolls around and my FIL came over to supervise the installation while DP and I were at work. I get home Thursday night expecting to see the finished job, only to see that half of them are missing and some of the ones that were installed hadn't even been finished off properly I was ready to let it rip on Friday morning, but they rang me a bit before 9 and said they had to come and finish installing them... so we've got them now and that's all that matters! Some piccies..... I just caught up on your thread and your house is looking fabulous. I am just about to order the rest of my blinds, but like you I have some awning windows and it is driving me crazy what to use there. Do your awning windows have the wind-out mechanise that sticks out, and if so, does it create a problem with your venetian blinds? Please excuse the dead baby bugs on my window sill I need to dust but I really can't be arsed doing it at the moment Our window sills are 10cm deep and the handle for the wind out mechanism has a little hinge on it so it can fold out of the way (both when the windows are opened and closed). This is with the handle hanging out - it has to be like this to open and close the windows Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is with the handle turned up, out of the way Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is how it sits behind the blinds with the handle out of the way Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Long story short.... No I haven't had any trouble with it at all. But when they came out to measure our windows they did comment on how lovely and deep our window sills were. Not sure if they are overly deep though - they look pretty normal to me Re: dilla's place - we've got curtains! 953Nov 21, 2010 12:31 pm hi dilla ~ your place is looking fantastic. Can't get over how lovely everything is + how well you've put it together. Love love your curtains. My ideas for window coverings are a little hazy, but been leaning towards sheers over roman blinds. Your sheers over the venetians are just gorgeous. Also loving the panel glide blockout fabric matching the blockout layer on the blinds ~ very clever. Those double blinds are a great idea and so practical.. But I just have to know... how the heck did you take this photo?? _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: dilla's place - we've got curtains! 954Nov 21, 2010 12:55 pm Nothing too tricky I'm afraid. Just stuck my hand between two of the slats and angled down I really love the sheers over the venetians - my only problem is that I think the sheers clash horribly with the feature wall in our bedroom. It makes the wall look yellow YUCK For the rest of the house we wanted something really unobtrusive. The double rollers are great because if they're up you wouldn't even know they were there, when the sunscreen ones are down you can still see out through them but the colour blends in well with the walls, and when the blockout ones are down they look nearly exactly the same as the wall colour. They're pretty much exactly what we were hoping they would be Re: dilla's place - we've got curtains! 955Nov 21, 2010 1:18 pm dilla Nothing too tricky I'm afraid. I am also building in central vic, can I ask who you went through to get them?? Cheers Annie We got them through Dollar Curtains. Apart from the little hiccup at the end and the extra wait we weren't expecting, they were fantastic. The quality is fantastic - they knew who I was everytime I walked through the door, very friendly staff. I'm really happy with them actually. Have you got a thread?
