It's 1.22m x 1.85m and I paid my cousin 8 cruisers to paint it for us I wasn't sure what greens we should use, so I picked up a selection of sample cards from bunnings and brought them home to see which ones matched our green cushions the best. The colours we used are white, dulux olive reserve, rodham, and celery green. I think that room gets more compliments than any other in the house - so thanks flagstaffIV Nice work Dilla!!! Just looks amazing That's one of my inspiration pictures aswell Thankyou muffin I haven't looked at that pic for ages - our house doesn't actually look much like it at all but it definitely sent us down the direction of some white in the kitchen, white furniture with chrome legs and matching fabric on the chairs Lucene Your home looks great you must be sooo pleased Congratulations to you both We're so pleased with it, Lucene! I want the builders to come back so they can see how different it looks since they've gone Haha, what a strange thing to want to do shonzilla wow it looks beautiful!!! well done, can you come do my house I can't wait to see your turquoise, Shon. It's going to be gorgeous I can come accessory shopping with you if you pay for my flight to WA though..... tinkster Looks amazing dilla. Love the artwork in the bathroom. All stunning Thanks tinkster I'd been looking for some metal art for the bathroom for ages. We got this from ebay and as soon as I saw it I knew that was THE ONE When DP's mum saw it she said "I think I'd prefer that outside". I said "It was custom bought for this spot..." No way was I going to put it outside I love it, I think it really makes the bathroom feel finished rather than being one of those rooms that never gets decorated. Kaytee You have done a very nice job and you should be proud. Much appreciated, Kaytee I'm so proud of it - I'm always trying to get people to come and visit us now haha Re: dilla's place - moved in pics page 45 and 46 911Oct 02, 2010 7:24 pm Dilla, congrats your home looks lovely !!!! I love what you have done you must be so happy with it all!!! Wow!!! I esp loved your leather couch because hey it looks like mine!!! Funny about that!! Re: dilla's place - moved in pics page 45 and 46 912Oct 02, 2010 8:35 pm Yes, very suspicious indeed... I wish I'd gone for a style more like yours (with the lower curved arms), ours are really comfy to sit on, but if you try to lay down the arms are too high for your head to sit comfortably. I love laying down to watch tv, so I have to prop myself up with heaps of cushions Re: dilla's place - moved in pics page 45 and 46 913Oct 02, 2010 10:40 pm Everything looks great Dilla Isn't it an awesome feeling to finally have everything in its place the way you've imagined it and have it look perfect! You're setting the bar pretty high for the rest of us!!! By the way, I want: ~ that "green" picture ~ your linen in the spare bedroom ~ your matching covered dining chairs and barstools ~ did you do them yourself or get them done with an upholsterer? (and was it hard to do? or expensive?? ) ~ what a brilliant idea! Wow. Wow. By the way, I want: ~ that "green" picture ~ your linen in the spare bedroom ~ your matching covered dining chairs and barstools ~ did you do them yourself or get them done with an upholsterer? (and was it hard to do? or expensive?? ) ~ what a brilliant idea! Wow. Wow. Wow. Thanks J All up that painting cost us under $100, and that's including a bottle of wine for DP's dad who came to rescue me from the shop. I bought the canvas thinking it would fit in my mum's car, but it didn't He came from one side of town to the other to come and pick it up for us and drop it at our house, so I think that was a bottle of red well deserved by him That also includes the 8 cruisers my cousin charged to paint it, the canvas itself, 4 sample pots of paint and a couple of cheap paint brushes Absolute bargain and the colours are exactly right for the room The linen in the spare room is from one of the manchester warehouses that are spotted around the place. It's actually a bit shiny which I didn't realise when I bought it, not that it matters really And we had an upholsterer do the chairs and stools for us. I spent ages trying to find some fabric chairs with chrome legs but couldn't find any that didn't cost a couple of hundred each so I bought these off ebay and stored them for months! The stools are from ikea and we just kept them flat packed until we took them to the upholsterer. When we ordered our couch we got an extra 12m (which was way too much) of fabric so we could get the chairs and stools done. He charged us just over $600 to put better padding on the stools (even though they were brand new, he said that it would deteriorate fairly quickly) and re-cover them, and to put new padding on the chairs (which had pretty much no padding in the backrest but are now nice and plump) and to re-cover them. It was so worth doing, even though the shapes don't match exactly the matching fabric makes them seem a lot more co-ordinated than they could have Lucky for us we (or I - DP couldn't have cared less ) have had a pretty clear idea on what we wanted for ages and so we picked up knick knacks at bargain prices for the past 12 months and stored them. The only things we brought from our old place were our bed frame and bedside drawers which we are using in the spare room. But we lived in such a mess of boxes at our old place for a very long time so it's definitely nice to have something fresh, new, clean and co-ordinated to live in now Re: dilla's place - moved in pics page 45 and 46 916Oct 03, 2010 4:11 pm We put up our magnetic photo strips last night. I've got to get some photos printed out to put up permanently, these are just some randoms grabbed from a box so we don't look like we hang bare cords off the wall for decoration Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The magnets are so strong! They're going to be great as Christmas or birthday card holders, and if we get any invitations or anything like that they can go up on the wall as a bit of a collage of our life instead of sticking them to the fridge. We've got a magnetic board up in the pantry that we stick our bills to instead of on the fridge. Hopefully we'll never stick anything to that fridge - I think a clear fridge really helps a room seem less cluttered Re: dilla's place - moved in pics page 45 and 46 917Oct 05, 2010 10:13 pm Love the magnetic strips ... Re: dilla's place - moved in pics page 45 and 46 920Oct 06, 2010 10:52 am Wow dilla that is one good looking house! Could you pretty please tell me where you got your dining table from? I really want a white table (everyone thinks I'm a bit crazy but whatever) and just haven't been able to find the one I want (for a reasonable price ) Thanks have you used any of the motorised curtain systems available from Ebay?
