Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 18, 2009 8:09 am Hi, I'm planning to build house with HOMESNOW in Truganina, VIC (near Hoppers Crossing). I haven't signed the contract yet. I'm a first home buyer and I don't have much experience in choosing the builder. After meeting up with SIMONDS homes, I found HOMESNOW has cheaper base price. But I'm a bit worried about the material they use for building and the quality of the house in overall. Anyone have idea on this pls? thanks. Re: Anyone building house with or knows about HOMESNOW 2Sep 18, 2009 3:57 pm Hi, Look at my reply from a similar recent thread. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22698 We recently moved into a Homes Now home & are delighted with the final quality of our HN home. We did have a few issues during the build but good communication sorts it out in the end. I'm sure that issues will occur with most builders. Base price is quite cheap, but don't worry, they will more than likely make up for that with higher site costs. The base price is an S class slab, an Truganina, being in the Western Suburbs, you will most likely need an H class so be prepared for that, as well as other costs which arent included in the base price. Your build quality will depend on many things such as the builder they allocate you, whether you use an independant building consultant, eg. Kev, and how much you keep an eye out on whats going on. We had Monier roof tiles, Boral bricks and other known brands. I'm not very happy with the Vennini Oven as I find it's too small, we also upgraded our Vennini cooktop to the 604 model with a Wok burner for an extra $100 or so. We didn't like the horrible carpets on offer from HN so used the money from the carpet credit to put solid Jarrah timber floors in throughout, except bedrooms (nicer stuff from Carpet Court) & tiles to the wet areas . Hope this helps. jamestheoz Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24824 Hi All It has been a few weeks since my last update. The build has been progressing well. No major issues to report.
