Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 17, 2009 1:13 pm Hi
We've just had our pre start so I thought I'd start a record of this process - really just for my own reference, but I've learnt that people on here like pictures, so I may share some of those occasionally too! Here's a list of our colours n stuff.. Brick: Midland - Florentine Limestone Roof: Bristile - Truffle, Marseille profile Gutter & Fascia: painted to match roof tile Driveway: Brikmakers - Cappuccino Widows: Jason - White Birch Gargage & Front door - Paperbark Kitchen Bench: Laminex - Roman Marble Cupboards: Laminex Moleskin Floor - Vinyl (gerflor - Toronto Brown) Laundry/Ensuite/Bathroom Benchtops: Laminex - Stipple Seal Cupboards: Laminex Parchment Tile colour: It was one at the builders office, it's a mid brown, sort of cocoa ish, goes really well with the Stipple Seal. We had to have the same colours in the laundry/ensuite/bathroom, it was going to cost extra to have different colours in different rooms (I have no idea why...) Internal Paint (doors and frames): Solver - Whitetone We are getting the builder to do the window coverings, but I'm having second thoughts about that because we get vertical blinds with the house, and I hate, hate, hate vertical blinds and they quoted me a ridiculous figure to upgrade to Roman Blinds, so I might be better off doing the blinds after handover. And here's the house plan! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford 2Sep 17, 2009 1:20 pm Hey there nice to see your selections and plans. Looks great. Who are you building with?? That is strange about having to have the same tile and laminex in all areas. Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford 3Sep 17, 2009 1:33 pm thanks we're building with MyGen, who are the cheaper version of Highbury Homes. They've been great to deal with, so we're pretty happy with things so far. I actually didn't ask why we had to have the same colours, I might email the pre start lady and ask her (just out of interest really!) Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford 4Sep 17, 2009 1:39 pm Lovely looking plan!! Nice and big When i did my prestart, i was told that it was gigantic NO-NO to have different tiles!! Not sure why... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford 5Sep 17, 2009 2:24 pm Very Nice. We very nearly went with MyGen, before choosing Scott Park. Byford really seems to be THE place to build at the moment! Apart from that, it was perfect. Mr Gum - Byford does seem quite popular at the mo, although I was a bit concerned a few months ago when REIWA released the data on house and land values and Byford had dropped the most (something crazy like 18 or 20%). I don't think that you need to worry about that. It is just that with all the new houses that are going up, they will inevitably drop the value for the suburb, as they will be (generally) worth less than the established houses in the suburb. You tend to see the same in all the areas that are growing so fast. You'll have a slab before you know it viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford 13Sep 22, 2009 4:13 pm Sylista - we're in Byford Central Jodie & Chedasha - I'm trying not to get too excited until we get a slab down. For the VERY short version of an even longer story, we signed up with another builder in May last year and they completely st*ffed the plans up, then tried to make us pay for the changes that had to be made so the building license would be issued (when it was their fault). 16 months down the track and a few thousand on lawyers fees , it's just been sorted out and we're finally going to build. Oh the joys of building, why do we torture ourselves like this??!! Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford 14Sep 22, 2009 4:23 pm good on ya mrs Kaz, looks like a great home, love the living area aspect! She said yes and I won't charge an admin fee cos I've got to put your file back into drafting anyway to make the other changes you asked for last week. Brilliant! did I mention that I love my builder?? Still haven't got the building license, but I'm happy with todays result! Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford 17Oct 05, 2009 5:10 pm Thats nice of them mrs_kaz!!! Always nice to save yourself a bit of money Fingers crossed you get that building license soon!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: mrs kaz's house in Byford - %^#*ing mortgage brokers 19Oct 16, 2009 1:56 pm So I'm convinced now that my broker is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I spoke to her this morning asking what was happening with finance (afer dropping off forms to her 3 weeks ago) and she tells me the bank is waiting on some more financial info from us, and she's sorry but she forgot to tell me I needed to give her this info So I attempt to obtain said info, but it's going to take until about mid next week to get it (it has to be posted to us). sigh. why is it so hard to do stuff right? why? why why why??? Oh I would be annoyed with that. It takes long enough for finance without things like that happening. 13 6632 Petercurtis You able to contact the certifier and get a copy of your structural plans, if they are not in your contract.
