Things nearly done. Re: Question about painting of Internal Doors? 5Nov 17, 2009 8:44 pm borg it is better if they are painted. This helps to seal the timber, from moisture etc. It could then swell or bow etc -if not done I'm not so sure that the painters actually do paint the tops and bottoms of the doors. The second fix carpenters painted the top and bottom of the doors prior to hanging them. I was going to tell the SS to make sure the painters paint the top and bottom of the doors. Past experience from living in SA where the vast hot and cold does make the doors shrink and swell. We had to have all the doors shaved in the house we had built in the 1980's. During the first Winter the doors swelled. Luckily it was listed on our 3 month maintenance period list with the builder. The painter had to come back, take all the doors off and paint the tops and bottoms after they were shaved. PCI Done Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3271 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5412 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7942 |
