having dealt with this before, my advice is that warranty begins as of your purchase date (on your invoice), not date of receival........

Re: Buying stuff too soon.... 22Sep 15, 2009 10:55 pm Ooh, I like this post. .. we've bought quite a bit of stuff on Grays Online. . . (sorry if you've heard this before). . . about $15K worth of kitchen appliances for about $4K. . . also just picked up a dishwasher for $1599 (rrp is $2149), but got the 5 years extended warranty on that one. I suppose, if you're buying on credit, you have to be getting a pretty big discount on the stuff to make it worth buying before you move in. Re: Buying stuff too soon.... 23Sep 16, 2009 1:09 pm Ive been buying stuff since last year and I will be signing my building contracts at the end of this month with land settlement also happening at the end of this month... lol But I agree with not purchasing appliances as you'd lose warranty. Unless its Layby, layby starts from the final payment and pick up. (unless they've changed this since Ive worked in retail) Interest Free terms would begin from the date of signing/buying All Ive purchased is kitchenware and manchester. Love those end of financial year and stocktake sales! Still haven't even agreed on a contract price yet, but they will look great in our new Master Bedroom. Unfortunately our current bedroom is now an obstacle course of big bed, temporary study and bedside tables facing the wrong way so that we can fit them in the tiny room. We just have to keep telling ourselves that we will have more space in our new place. Also I think we may slow down on buying things. Have just rung Miele - they say warranty starts from date of delivery, not date of purchase. Re: Buying stuff too soon.... 29Sep 18, 2009 1:35 pm Ive thought about doing this but my tastes have changed so many times since we starting building. Also, if I had bought any big ticket items early on, by the time we move in (novemberish) they are either much cheaper or replaced with newer models at the same price so i have resisted. Instead, I have been putting money aside in a separate bank account and DH and I have been gearing ourselves for a major spending spree. Should also get a discount by using cash and buying alot at once. They say indefinitely - the store tells me that some of their customers have stock in their warehouse for few years before pick-up/delivery. Hopefully it should be OK as I've just bought 6K's worth of appliances at the Miele sale! It costs them money to keep stuff in storage - so I can't see why they'd be happy to leave stuff there indefinitely. What's more, if an appliance has been sitting somehwere for, lets say 15 years, I can't for the life of me think why the manufacturer would honour a 3 or so year warranty on it after it's been delivered.... I agree - years seem strange to me but that is what the store says. And Miele head office confirms it. Might have to look at the actual warranty paperwork that comes with the appliances to see whether this is true. https://form.jotform.com/240284569218058 Please spare a moment to fill out this survey form for a project.
