Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 14, 2009 10:27 pm Hi All, You may remember me from post about building on the boundary and the fun issues we have been having with our neighbour (http://www.forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23011)... well we have been told that they may start our foundations next week!! We are trying not to get too excited but we are really hoping they do. Now, forgive me if this doesn't work, but I thought that I would try and post some images of our floorplan and front and rear elevations. Here goes.... Floorplan http://img36.imageshack.us/i/scan0002wv.jpg/ Elevations http://img16.imageshack.us/i/scan0001ba.jpg/ As you can imagine, it is well and truly too late to make any changes, but would be interested to hear what you thing . Just a little note, we have made a couple of changes to the kitchen island bench and put sliding doors going to the courtyard from the master bedroom instead of the window that is there. I had difficulty trying to post it too... any clues? Great news on site start... I bet your so relieved. The house plans are a little small but from what I can see it looks like quite a good size house considering your block is so narrow. Great use of space.... Well done Hi Sammy! Thanks heaps for that, I did give that a go... but I must have been doing something wrong.... hmmmm.... lol We are very relieved... 9 months on from when we purchased the block it is really exciting to know that we are finally going to see some action. It hasn't been the fault of the builder at all, we have no complaints about them. It has just been our silly neighbour. We are taking down the portion of fence on the weekend so fingers crossed he doesn't cause us any problems. Thanks heaps for your feedback too, its 193sqm including the single garage so we didn't think it was too bad for our first home I might see if I can post a larger version of the floorplan up... Thanks Jon Builing our First Home in Ridgehaven SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23429&p=316543#p316543 Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 10Sep 15, 2009 9:14 pm JonG Hmmmm... sorry to ask what is probably a stupid question... but any ideas how to make my pictures any larger?? Thanks Congrats on the start of your build. How did you turn the neighbour in your favour? I don't know what you have done but everything including the font seems to look small on your thread When uploading my images via ImageShack I choose - resize image - 640x480 (message board) When the upload is finished I click on the image - then right click - then choose - view image. Once the large image is up I - right click on that image - then choose - copy image location. Next I go to the forum to where I want to post the pic and select the Img button up the top of screen where you can change your font/colour etc. Final step is to right click in the middle of then when you preview the post you should have a picture.... Hope you can follow my instructions Our house is currently being built with the garage on the boundary. Our block is 11.2m wide. You can find some photos up to slab stage if you follow my link PCI Done Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 11Sep 18, 2009 12:36 am I think you have saved your picture too small. Scan it full size, then right click and send via email, and select make pictures smaller and it should be a better size. Good luck. Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 12Sep 18, 2009 6:15 pm Hi All, I think I have worked the size of the plans issue... our house is 30m deep, which means that it won't fit onto an A3 page at 1:100 so I scanned the 1:200 plan that I had... hence it looking so small. I will have to try and figure something else out. Just to let you know, we met with our neighbour for Mediation last night. It was the first time in 9 months that he has been willing to meet with us. We were able to come to an agreement and we are still proceeding to remove the 8m portion of boundary fence tomorrow so that we can build our garage on the boundary. Who knows... there might be some pics of me and my future bor-in-law removing the fence and tidying the block to follow after tomorrow... On a side note, only 5 weeks until our Wedding!!! Gee, everything sure does come at once doesn't it! Have a great weekend Jon Jon Builing our First Home in Ridgehaven SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23429&p=316543#p316543 Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 13Sep 19, 2009 8:59 pm Hi All, My previous post was meant to say "bro-in-law"... just thought I should point that out. Well after a long day, we have removed the required section of fence, erected temporary fencing, cut back all the weeds and made a pile of rubble that was nicely hidden among the weeds. We will have to stop by the block during the week and pick all of that up so that the Footings contractor can start on Thursday. It was a great day in Adelaide today, 20 and sunny... I just didn't realise just how sunny it was... I have not been this sun burnt in so long! Thank goodness for Aloe Vera gel, straight from the fridge. Pics will follow soon, camera is flat at the moment. We got married at the end of last year so I know how you feel with trying to organise a house and a wedding. Hopefully it's smooth sailing from here with your neighbour. Looking forward to some progress pictures Samantha Building the Leabrook by Statesman at Freeling My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15237 We are now in our house!! Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 15Sep 22, 2009 10:11 pm Here's hoping I have figured out how to load a larger version or our floor plan... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Well, its Tuesday evening and so far I have not heard from our neighbour... we must have done an OK job with the Temporary Fencing. Fingers crossed at least. We have had a lot of rain in Adelaide since yesterday (What a storm we had) and we are really hoping that this doesn't hold up the footing contractor at all. I will be swinging past the block Thursday night to see if anything was done during the day. Hi Sammy_sj, thanks for the well wishes for the wedding... only 31 days to go now! Cheers Jon Jon Builing our First Home in Ridgehaven SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23429&p=316543#p316543 Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 16Sep 22, 2009 10:27 pm Congratulations. Hope you have footings and not a pool, its been bucketing down. Ridgehaven was my old stomping ground as a kid, and much of it was still under grapevines when we moved out there. We still live in the North East, but are building up at Inglewood. Good luck with the build, the weather should start to improve as we get closer to summer. Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 17Sep 22, 2009 10:33 pm Hi Hills Guy, good luck with your build, Inglewood is a really nice spot. I would eventually like to move on to the hills, love the idea of uninterupted views. Speaking of views, here is a pic of our block, looking from front to back. Keep in mind that our block is only half the width of the back fence... If they can't start tomorrow it will hopefully be early next week. Really can't wait for them to start. It is all starting to feel very real again! Cheers Jon Jon Builing our First Home in Ridgehaven SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23429&p=316543#p316543 Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 19Sep 24, 2009 4:53 pm Hi Jon, I have just read through your issues with your neighbour, I think I remember you posting something on this a while back, they sound like a nightmare I hope things settle down with them in the future and you can get along with them okay, good that things are finally progressing. We had to notify all of our neighbours which included a school opposite which was a bit crazy because our house does not affect them in the least, the house we currently live in is the neighbour we are building on the boundary of and had to get them to sign an acceptance, when I mentioned to him about removing the fence (which is falling down anyway) and a tree, he said "do what you want", when I read stories like your I can't help thinking of how lucky we are! When I spoke to our brickies they said they have had problems before where people got Sh..ty going on their land even when it's was just weeds on the other side. Takes all type I guess, Good luck with the house and the Wedding, Regards, Vid Re: Building in Ridgehaven SA - Floor plan :) 20Sep 24, 2009 11:13 pm Hi Vid, thanks for that. We didn't have to notify anyone which was interesting, council didn't notify them either! They just approved it. Seems you were very fortunate. Things were a bit dicey for a while but things seem to be going ok now. Drove past the block tonight on my way home and there seemed to be a big pile of dirt!!! Guess that is for our fill?? Hope that means they intend to start tomorrow! Cheers Jon Builing our First Home in Ridgehaven SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23429&p=316543#p316543 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13874 You have mandatory building inspections and privately engaged building inspections.
