Our plumbers have dug up a big pile of clay about 50cm high, put a square of something on top and then sat the hot water service on top-looks very *******. I questioned them and they said it had to sit a certain height. It is a chromagen solar hot water system. I checked the Chromagen manual and it says that it must be installed on an approved base. A concrete tile atop a mound of clay hardly sounds like it would fit the bill. I would check with Chromagen and see what they say and then go back to the builder and have a site meeting to discuss the quality of the installation and how the mound of clay has to last 7 years for the warranty to be valid.
