Is that ridge capping on correctly? looks a little...loose? Like I said I know nothing about rooves at all, just looked those pics and it seems strange. Welcome to Homeone by the way. I am sure someone here that knows hwawhat they are talking about will give you their opinion soon... www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Roof tiles not coloured correctly? 4Sep 10, 2009 8:26 pm Thanks Leeton and The Max, they look worse in real life! The tiles haven't been pointed/sealed yet which is why the capping tiles are just pearched there. I've emailed my CLO, it will be interesting to see how HBC handle this...... I've been lurking on Homeone for a while, it's a great site with plenty of good information! I can see the difference in colours. It looks like some of the weren't glazed enough or came from a different batch. If it was my house I would want new tiles. I would ask to make sure that they all came from the same batch. Hopefully they will all be the same colour. PCI Done Re: Roof tiles not coloured correctly? 6Sep 11, 2009 12:21 pm Looks like there's some red stuff between the tiles. Could it just be something that they stick/place them with? If the roof isn't finished, maybe its just colouring from the "red stuff" where they have been handled and will wash off? Obviously I know nothing about roofing though......... Re: Roof tiles not coloured correctly? 8Sep 11, 2009 3:09 pm I understand that a lot of the time the *real* colour is actually different from what it looks like in websites/on paper etc... however thats a big difference!! I can't see any red at all in their sample of it. Would definitely be getting that checked! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Roof tiles not coloured correctly? 9Sep 11, 2009 4:37 pm I gather the Bristile "Valley Essentials" is a new clay range. Undoubtedly it cost more than a standard concrete tile. I would expect that this type of product is designed to have the same tint throughout. These clearly do not, and are probably from 2 different batches. I would not accept that the tiler should have blended the tiles, especially if you want that flat, all-the-same-colour look, with no colour variation. As a separate matter, the chipping of the tiles (therefore showing the clay inside) has either been done in transit or through sloppy handling by the tiler. On the other hand it could be a batch that is particularly brittle. I would certainly get an expert from Bristile heavily involved. This does not look acceptable for a brand new roof. Re: Roof tiles not coloured correctly? 10Sep 11, 2009 4:50 pm Yeah it looks two toned almost. I saw those tiles at the display and they did not look like that I didn't think. Re: Roof tiles not coloured correctly? 11Sep 11, 2009 4:52 pm Thanks for all the responses HBC's CLO has told me that the site supervisor will have to go and have a look with a rep from the tile company, hopefully they will get back to me early next week. I went and had another look today, they didn't look so bad when they were dry, however the red tinges on the edges still shows through. I think the best way to describe them is that they just look "cheap". Anyway at least the roof is covered!! Your photos look significantly more clay showing through than in the display centre or pictures. edit: Actually I have 2 tiles in my back yard from this range and I can''t see through them!! The are Truffel and another brown one. *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Re: Roof tiles not coloured correctly? 13Sep 11, 2009 10:35 pm We had this problem with shade difference with monier tiles in our previous home, a rep from monier came out and arranged the roof to be sprayed the correct colour. If the tiles come from different batches they can vary in colour. It ended up looking better and wearing better than the neighbouring houses 8year on.
