PD said they can do the phone trenching and house connection for $250.
Does this sound right?
What heappens next? Do we get Telstra to connect the phone once we moved in?
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Phone Trenching 2Sep 10, 2009 1:43 pm If i could turn back time and ask PD to do this for us, i would have.. what he have ended up paying a telstra contractor for the same thing.. is SIGNIFICANTLY more then $250. But i think it also depends on where your electrical pit is and how long the trench will be.. so if you have a really short distance.. you may even concidor digging it yourself? I know someone in our estate did dig the trench themselves. Good luck!! Building with PD - Regent 23 Cascades on Clyde Estate HomeOne Building Thread - PCI Completed - 28th August. Its called a conduit or a trench as said above.. --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Re: Phone Trenching 4Sep 10, 2009 3:29 pm I might also add.. you'll still have to get the phone connected after the trench and conduit it done.. i know with Telstra it's a $299 connection fee for phone/internet. Seriously? Hm. I'm now a bit peeved... We just got the letter saying our frame's almost done, time to ring up and arrange a pre-wire. We've been told in one letter we need Telstra and in another that PD can 'help us organise' a subcontractor via recommendation, but now I've got no clue exactly what a pre-wire entails! If you wanted PD to do the phone trenching and connection, it had to be done in your contract - They are probably just saying in these letters a) that it needs to be done now and b) that they can point you in the right direction. After you have oreganised the trench (your self or a sub contractor) you need a sub contractor who is licenced to run the cable from the house to the pit in the street. Once that cabling has been done then you need to call Telstra and organise connection to the exchange 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.'
