Our friend is a painter and can get us a massive discount on Solver Paints so am just wondering what the quality is like Painter friend tells me that they are comparable. It's more about the preparation and application. Although some painters swear by only one or the other... it's like a Ford vs. Holden debate. Some specialist products in each range are better than others, but for basic wall, ceiling and enamels it's much the same. Both companies will colour match the other's colour charts by the way. So, if you like a Dulux colour, Solver will do it (colour match) as close as possible. You should take the offer for the trade price. There is a massive retail mark up on paints. Hope that helps. Re: Solver Paints - any good? 3Sep 07, 2009 5:58 pm From my understanding, Solver is a premium quality paint, like haymes and can only be bought from a paint shop, unlike dulux and the like, they can be bought from bunnings etc etc I think they are much of a muchness! Premium vs good quality! Building Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13002 Site start: 8th July 2009 Handover: 11/12/2009! 5 months total build time. 40 sqs of luxuary...Bliss! Re: Solver Paints - any good? 4Sep 07, 2009 7:36 pm I have used them throughout my house. They are good quality paints, the ceiling white is probably the best I have ever used. The semi-gloss I used in the bathroom recently I found was very pungent as far as odour goes Re: Solver Paints - any good? 5Sep 08, 2009 12:36 pm Quote: Both companies will colour match the other's colour charts by the way. We had chosen all dulux colours but after a horrid time with our building company they offered to pay for all our paint etc provided we use solver. We could only get a colour match on 2 out of 12 colours. The rest we had to choose on the spot in 5 mins after months of agonizing over what colours to have. Only the light colours could be matched any that had blue could not. something bout pigments as i recall. In terms of quality I personally wouldn't use solver next time round. Ours seems to scratch off rather easily & has bubbled. Yes this may be due to my painting skills but I have painted quite a few time before with no probs. The service was fantastic tho, the young lad took our plans home with him to work out how much we'd need etc. Doubt bunnings staff would do that. Quote: the ceiling white is probably the best I have ever used agreed. that white is lovely, we used that colour on our walls. Very crisp white. Exactly the look we wanted. The yellowing mainly occurs to white or very light colours. 1 2922 9 24757 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7258 |
