Browse Forums Building A New House Re: PD Marina Imminent Start!!! 21Oct 22, 2009 2:50 pm Hey Igglepiggle! Sorry too lazy for photos. Went past the block this morning and the temp fence and rubbish cage is there - no portaloo. Our new admin person is fantastic really on the ball am sooo happy! I got a call this afternoon they are now onsite scraping the soil so that is good news. They were a bit upset as we had a pile of dirt where the alfresco is due to go but it was there when they did the site survey and no one bothered to tell us to move it! Oh well they were told to just move it further back so no big deal - we will deal with it later - gives us more options later on to what to do with the back yard - am thinking of levelling it up high with a batter at the back rather than expensive retaining walls - lots of time to think it over though! Now I will have to go over tommorow to take photos! promise to post when I get back! 22 October - site Scrape 27 October - pipes in 6 November - ??? slab supposed to be poured. We have a new admin contact who is absolutely fabulous any questions we have are answered straight away - can't say how great she is. Also had contact with SS who I will meet on Thursday who sounds pretty flexible on the phone all happy! I think we should have built from the right but too late now! We have the bottom floor frame - pics!! 25Nov 14, 2009 2:56 pm Great spot, Lisa! Will you have a view across the gorge (George!)? Sorry, family joke.... every time we drove through the gorge at South Morang/Yarrambat when our youngest was little, he'd always yell excitedly that we were going through the Gorge, George! It's one of those stupid things that's stuck... Re: PD Marina Started!!! We have the bottom floor frame - pics!! 26Nov 15, 2009 1:41 pm Hey Kek, Yep we should especially from top floor! so cute my kids will love that! we like the spot - bus goes past us so that will be great when the kids are older and nice walking tracks and walking the kids to school will be great. We have the bottom floor frame - pics!! 27Nov 15, 2009 2:13 pm Hi Lisa! Found you - congrats on the frame stage! Read your history and sounds like we have lead parallel lives! Glad though that things are looking up and you have had changes in the admin area. I just plan to avoid them as much as possible! Very exciting days! Re: PD Marina Started!!! We have the frame!!!! 28Nov 19, 2009 2:18 pm Hi Elzbeth, Sorry have not been able to respond on my computer - I check things frequently on my phone with wireless but can't post! With 3 small children actual time on the computer is very limited - I am bad - baby is asleep and other two watching chugginton and doing puzzles! so quickly jumping on to respond!. It is very exciting it has taken not much time at all for the frame to go up we can see things shaping up now. The whole frame is done now so expecting the next progress payment any day - we have our first independent inspector going through on Monday so will know how good it is then! (looks good to me:)) they are putting the roof on next week and then bricking the week after - expecting lock up prior to Xmas which will be great so hopefully that will keep naughty people out over the Christmas break! Can't wait to see you start! will post piccies next time the kids are busy! I do have a blog but this is probably better at the moment! Love your blog though! best go before they start tearing the house down! Doors on - Bricking tommorow!!!! 30Dec 02, 2009 4:17 pm This week is still going strong - plumbing and gas in; doors hung and bricking to start tommorow - scaffolding down today as we went past - windows on. I can't believe how fast we are going!!!! Doors on - Bricking started photos!!! 31Dec 08, 2009 11:00 am I have now got a few photos - looks like lockup by Christmas - electricals next week - so should be interesting trying to get in at christmas! we are really pleased with the bricks (were a little worried) but they have come up really nice (well we think so anyway!) http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... to/005.jpg frame http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... to/037.jpg roof http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... to/121.jpg doors http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... to/135.jpg bricks Because of the construction drawings being wrong they had put a tap in the incorrect position and our SS had told them to move it but when we went the other day it is now bricked in. Our SS said they could still move it and would rebrick but we decided that in the end there would probably be more important things to worry about so said leave it. Everything else has gone smoothly! This is the exciting part - cabinets and internal fittings. Hopefully the time will fly from now till you're set to move in. Re: PD Marina Started!!! updated blog - fix completed! picfest 34Feb 17, 2010 8:05 pm Hey Kek! I don't think it will go any slower - we have to move to my parents house next week and then wait until handover. SS thinks it will be before Easter and is really on top of things. We went for a site inspection the other day and he picked up way more than we did. We are so happy at the moment - happier that we know what is behind the walls! Like everyone we are happy with our selections - the only issue now is what furniture to go with it!! such a big issue!! mind you it is being painted tommorow so as I go past on the weekend with my husband we can see the colours together and then drag him kicking and screaming to a furniture shop!! Any suggestions for the following most welcome: have to get a lounge suite - 3 kids two dogs easy choice - brown leather - my Dh loves the brown leather seats with the dining table so am trying to get him to think about texture and think about 6 leather and 2 rattan to break it up. Table would be in a darker hardwood -what do you think??
