Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 03, 2009 7:46 pm Hi our brick wall had to be redone, the mortar which has fallen from the removal of the bricks has gone directly into our sewer breather pipe. Maybe something should have been put on the pipe to prevent this, but what ? How about a brick. Idiots. Here is a picture of the consequence Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Builders, fix one thing bugger another 5Sep 04, 2009 8:12 am Yes prevention would be best. However its hardly the end of the world if they can clean it out. I'd hate to think a tradie would see the multiple posts you are making calling them idiots and do something you cant see in retribution. Pick your battles. Re: Builders, fix one thing bugger another 9Sep 04, 2009 3:09 pm zaphod Ari, do you think that this behaviour is not careless and idiotic? Are you defending poor workmanship? I'm not defending poor workmanship at all. I have said nothing of the sort. However if you want me to be blunt I will. Do I think you are going over the top? Yes I would not classify this as an issue. So some mortar fell where it shouldn't have. As long as they fix it, it really doesn't matter. You dont know if they plan to fix it up. You should see how much crap is down ours. As long as its fixed at the end it doesn't matter. Re: Builders, fix one thing bugger another 11Sep 04, 2009 3:36 pm it might not be a massive issue but the trouble is you as the owner nwo have the concern about wondering if another tradie will come along and not clean it out right and cause drainage issue's down the track. I constantly worry that things arent going to be done right and this would worry me but id let it sit and see what happens, or just mention it to them rather than chase them. last time i took my little girl to the house she thought it was fun to put a few rocks down ours till we spotted her doing it.... lol Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. Things nearly done. Re: Builders, fix one thing bugger another 13Sep 04, 2009 5:06 pm I don't think it will be as easy to remove as suggested. Firstly the pipe is probably at least 18 inches long vertically and has a right angle at the bottom. If you push into the rocks to grasp a few the rest will slide down further, more and more on each attempt. Once it goes around the bend it is impossible to grasp. It would need to be dug up, cut open emptied and rejoined. How will I know if the pipe is clear if all the rubble is pushed past the bend. I wont without a plumber to look in it. Meanwhile the sewage will not be carried away which is a BIG ISSUE. Re: Builders, fix one thing bugger another 14Sep 04, 2009 5:41 pm Hi, sherwin, I agree with you, I shouldn't have to call a plumber to fix blocked drains, within a week of moving into a new house. This is a serious issue. I will definitely be complaining about this totally avoidable problem. cheers Re: Builders, fix one thing bugger another 15Sep 04, 2009 6:54 pm Sherwin re-read Bills and my reply. Bill stated that the problem should be mentioned and I agreed with his post. What exactly is the point of going in full guns blazing calling people idiots before they have had a chance to fix the issue? Anyway.....this is probably my last reply on the matter. Its not my build afterall. I just think people can make their build a hell of a lot more stressful by handling small things in an aggressive manner. Hey guys, what’s everyone opinion on James Hardie linea direct fix to frame? Would this be the most common method and anybody ever had any problems down the track? 0 5132 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair If the railhead is so poorly fixed it is also likely that the railhead is also non compliant, what about overflows and sealing railhead to the gutters?. 3 5963 |
