Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 02, 2009 6:04 pm Just got back from our house, it's not at lock up yet .. they are still working on the outside render.
Our beautifully plastered white walls on our second floor have been "tagged". They've wrecked about 5 walls!!! Little "(*&$s Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can expect it to be removed and the effect it may have on unsealed plaster. I am waiting to hear back from our builder. Re: Low Lifes have graffitied our brand new plastered walls 2Sep 02, 2009 6:16 pm geez there is some nobs around.. if it hasn't been painted yet then I don't see it being a problem as they can just paint over it.. although I'm no expert so I'm not entirely sure! Re: Low Lifes have graffitied our brand new plastered walls 3Sep 02, 2009 6:46 pm that is terrible, they truly are the scum of the earth! hopefully it can be painted over, by the time you have undercoat & paint (depending on how dark the spray paint they used was i guess?) - also on colour you chose Re: Low Lifes have graffitied our brand new plastered walls 5Sep 02, 2009 11:32 pm There is a build around the corner, and their lovely cream bricks were tagged with pink spray paint, i dont know what the builder did, but they look perfect now. and last week their front window was smashed, it is so sad, but i am so grateful it wasnt my house. Re: Low Lifes have graffitied our brand new plastered walls 6Sep 03, 2009 12:22 pm That's just terrible what has happened. Have the police been involved? Do the police keep records on the different "tags" people and groups use? Make sure you have taken pics of the graffiti (Not that I want to see them) I'm betting the builder will just paint over it as the fix. After it is fixed, make sure you cannot see any of the graffiti. (Hence the need to take a picture now) Most Gaffiti is done in auto paint which is totally different to internal wall domestic paint. On the other hand, if your builder replaces old for new (Remember each build site is insured via the builder during construction) then you have no probs at all. Good luck I hope it all works out. Rgds Leonard. Re: Low Lifes have graffitied our brand new plastered walls 7Sep 03, 2009 12:24 pm What a bunch of losers for doing that! I hope your builder can cover it satisfactorily for you. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Building the Luca VK2 in Mooroolbark Re: Low Lifes have graffitied our brand new plastered walls 11Sep 03, 2009 3:09 pm Just updating, I telephoned the police, they took notes but said the complaint should come from the builder as it's their responsibility and the builder will require a report number for insurance purposes. Our builder emailed me today and said they they are not sure how it will be cleaned until the SS see's it, but assures me it will not affect any future sealing or painting of the walls. I just took some photos of the graffitti for our recoreds. Here is a couple of examples. I think it will take a lot more than painting over it though as gloss finish or enamel finish paint is like the devil when you want to cover it with a wash and wear/normal house paint. Your builder must be fuming at these vandals but I am sure they will have a solution to make it perfect again. I think bricks can just be acid washed to make them pretty again since they are so new you won't see any colour difference. *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Thank you.
