Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 02, 2009 3:37 pm Hi everyone, Our tiling in the wet areas is done but we were expecting to see white grout on both the floor and wall tiles - is this normal to have dark grout on the floor and white on the walls, does it look odd? I know dark grout will stay newer longer but i was shocked to see whats happened photos: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Advice re: our tile grouting please - is this ok? 2Sep 02, 2009 4:21 pm Thats normal unless you specify otherwise. I would not want to have white grout on the floors as it stains easily. With the darker tile, the darker grout matches well, and you wouldn't want anything else with the white. Its not good to assume! Hard to tell from the pics, but some tiles look a little irregular. Have a close look. Make sure tiles are all aligned well with even width grout joints. And get a small straight edge, like a few inches long. Place it across the joints to see that the tile height it about the same. If a tile is higher than its neighbour, the straight edge will rock up & down. If you have any significant lippage, it may be something to raise with your tiler. Keep in mind that they had to slope the tiles slightly towards the drain, so some variance is normal. Ash.
