Garage bricks done, framing finished. 105Nov 20, 2009 11:56 pm JohnnyD Show off!!!!!!!!! Love the pic chronicle of your build.I can't believe how fast your house is going up but our builder did warn us that your builder is very quick!! I should send them pics of your house & say come on you have to beat this! What colour is the fascia...looks like surfmist? So what colour tones did you end up choosing for the carpet, tiles & walls? How much fighting was there? Congrats guys you must be so, so happy with your progress, Loretta Hahaha, thanks Loretta, it was just pure laziness actually! I'm going to try to be a better H1'er now and update my blog regularly. I'm just sooooo glad that electrical plan is out of the way. .. well, the electrician was in there today and he's roughed it all in, so no turning back now! Hahaha! Your builder will probably just come sabotage our house so that it slows us down! He didn't steal some of our bricks did he? I was wondering why we ran out! And yes, you colorbond queen. . . the facia is surfmist. . . the roof is monument. . . and Phil LOVES IT! Yeah, it's really great to get a roof on top of us, doesn't matter so much if it rains now I suppose. . . I don't know when they'll put the downpipes on though, as Phil and I are going to texture paint the house in a couple of weeks (Jeff's leaving the scaffolding up for us! Hurrah!) So hopefully they'll leave them until after we've finished, otherwise it'll be more trickiness. Well, I've been waiting to document the colours until we get the tile samples from the tile shop. . . I've managed to find a couple of piccies on the net. . . here we go! We've gone for a darkish browny grey carpet. The kitchen tiles are supposed to be silver, but they look more like brown to me. .. The ensuite and main bathroom (and the laundry splashback)will have 300x600 matt white rectified edge tiles on the walls. The ensuite will have grey floor tiles (with sparkly bits in! Woohoo! Real name GNS 3S0HBK) and grey/brown colour mosaics in the shower recess. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In the main bathroom we're having Eureka Pisanino Nero floor tiles and white stone travertine mosaicy type things on the spa bath and in the shower recess: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The laundry will have Gas Lux Mocha floor tiles and finally, We splashed out a bit on the powder room, (as it's so small so the difference in tile price wouldn't break the budget), we've gone for the brown floor tiles that have the lighter coloured streaks through them, and brown marble stoney mosaic stuff for the splashback to the vanity. You'll know exactly what it feels like soon. . . it's all kind-of surreal actually. . . like it's not really happening. . . feels like we're going to go through this whole building thing then never actually get to move in, like it will all just have been a dream. Re: Split-level - Camden. Yay! We do need piccies though, you have to tell the girls that playtime is over, it's time for mummy to do some work and show people on H1 how quickly their new house is being built! Hopefully you've got access to the site now. . . we never actually got a lock. . . I suppose it helps when the builder's surveyor lives next door and is able to keep an eye on the place. .. and one of us is there pretty much every day too, just for a little added security though, of course. .. hope the girls won lots of trophies. . . we want piccies of those too! Re: Split-level - Camden. Roof on, electrical rough-in complete. 108Nov 21, 2009 6:38 am Love love love those tiles...can't wait to see the finished product... I promise this weekend to update with photos...we have been bricked with guttering and fascias delivered yesterday..bagging is to start next week...and according to builder will be at lock up stage before xmas... Cheers Brigette Re: Split-level - Camden. Roof on, electrical rough-in complete. 109Nov 21, 2009 6:54 am Hi Jo...thanks for the pics of the tiles. You have made some great selections,I love the floor tile in the main bathroom & those mosaic tiles are simply stunning.Makes ours look very boring but that's what you get when you are slack & do your selections at the display home instead of going to the tile showroom!! I was also afraid if we did go there that we would have upgraded & that would be more $$ & seeing your lovely tiles...I would definitely have done that!! You are very lucky that your builder is leaving the scaffolding up & I hope the weather is a bit cooler when you are doing the painting!!! Wow what a big job that will be...what colour paint did you end up choosing? We are off to see our house this morning...can't wait to see the bricking progress. Our builder says it will be finished on Tuesday. Cheers Brigette Oh Brigette! Thanks! I am just a little bit worried that everything seems to be a bit BROWN and NEUTRAL. . . but hopefully we'll have a few pennies left to paint some nice feature walls to brighten the place up a bit. (Pink, I think! hahaha!) Oh yeah, update update update! We love photos! Wow, you're not too far behind us! We're also hoping for lockup before Chrissy. . . would absolutely HATE to have the place open and have somebody vandalise it, or steal something.. . I think we'd be camping out there every day! Loretta Ahh. . . you should've popped in and seen us. . . we were busy laying speaker cable, data cable and putting in sound insulation all day! now we're fit to drop. . . absolutely pooped, and we still have to finish it off tomorrow morning. . .boooooo. The floor tile was Phil's choice for the main bathroom. . . I'm a little unsure of it, but he absolutely loved it, so I let him win (as long as I got the one with the sparkles in it for the ensuite). . .(oh, and as long as I got the streaky one for the powder room) . . . (oh. . . and I picked out most of the mosaics too). HAHAHA!! Looks like I won! Not that it's all about winning. .. of course. Well. . . Loretta, believe me we didn't splash out on the mosaics (please kill me if I've already told you). .. got them all for $10 a 30cm x 30cm sheet from a place in Silverwater (they're all brand-name mosaics, just end-of-line) less than a third of the price of the retail stores. . . BARGAIN! (we like our bargains). Actually, I think we've really been quite lucky with Jeff. .. like you, we sat on our electrical plan until the very end. . . just couldn't decide where to put anything. . .Jeff didn't pressurize us to have it done just to tick it off as having his paperwork done, just let us roll with in. . .now the house is wired up, and we're already wanting to make changes. . . arghhhhh! And we're still "discussing" the paint colour. . . haha. . . well, actually, we're pretty much decided that it's going to be a grey-brown kind of colour (to go with everything inside the house!) We've just got about three that we like that we have to choose between. We're going to paint the brick frames around the windows surfmist and we're going to paint the pillars of the alfresco and portico a lighter colour than the main colour too. Just not sure which one yet though! Oh I hope your brickies have been working hard for you this week. . . I think that the bricklaying just seems to be the longest stage we have had so far. I just didn't realise how long it would take. I think that after the frame going up in a matter of miliseconds, I was just expecting the brickwork to be as speedy, but I think it just requires a whole lot of time to get it right, first time. (bloody frustrating though, when all Phil wanted was a ROOF!) Godspeed with the bricks Loretta and John! Re: Split-level - Camden. Can't wait to see more Pix Hi Pix. . . thank you for visiting my thread. . . Wow, you must be, like, visitor number SIX or something! WELCOME! We love pictures. . . we all love pictures. . . I think I'm obsessed, I look at other peoples pictures though and sometimes find something that I love and must have, but at other times find things that I absolutely do not want, and contact my builder to make sure I don't get them!!!! Making your building decisions through other peoples' triumphs and mistakes is a lot easier than just your own triumphs and mistakes!!! Hey pix. .. where are you building exactly? Do you have a thread or blog??? Re: Split-level - Camden. Roof on, electrical rough-in complete. 114Nov 22, 2009 6:43 am Sounds like you won with the tile selections Jo..he.he.Good strategy letting Phil 'win' in the choice of the bathroom tile(though I really like that tile). That is a good price for the mosaics...you certainly are good at finding a bargain! Yes we should have popped in yesterday...can't believe you guys were working in that heat!!! Your lucky to have a builder that lets you do your own stuff. I like your ideas for the exterior...the window frames & pillars will look good done in a different colour. Hey did you know Bunnings in Narellan opens on Monday? We were looking at some fluro lights for the garage at the casula store & they were out of stock but the guy told us to try Narellan as they would be well stocked with everything. So we went there only to find they don't open till Monday We will have to check it out next week...they might have some opening specials. Our bricks should be finished on Tuesday. They have done the feature bricks now & it's looking good.We met the chippies there yesterday they were just finishing of the balcony. It's good to meet some of the tradies...doesn't happen often as we are only there on weekends. Must go now as I have my pre schools christmas concert this morning. Not good having to work on a Sunday...don't get paid for it either but the boss does shout us lunch after it...yay. I had a look at your blog and your house is amazing, but I still have to read this thread and see it all ... Camden as in Sydney? What a lovely spot and beautiful outlook from your place! I can just smell the meadows and the land ... love it!!!!!!! Anyway, now that I know of this, will be watching!! When are you expecting the completion (sorry, I might have missed it somewhere, as I didn't read all the fine details yet )? Cheers My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ...
