Tat's great . Congrads CiNnY Re: 315 building days with Metricom 23Aug 29, 2009 10:49 am basically my point is the contracts days don't necessarily mean alot....just that if they do go over they pay you, which is a possibility but in alot of cases the house is done as quick as possible well within the timeframe. If you can;t wait that long then maybe building isn't for you and you should be looking established with a 60, 90 or 120 days settlement! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! Our 35-square single storey house had a contract build time of 164 days from site start. That included rain delays etc (but not Christmas, as our build began in Feb). It ran horribly over schedule, thanks to some grossly incompetent tradies and a useless initial site supervisor, and ended up taking a whopping 280 days to complete. But the thing is, we were paid compensation, as per the contract, for the extra 16 weeks it took to get possession of our new home. That didn't make up for the stress, or even cover our extra rent, but at least it was something, and there was some sort of incentive for the builder to get the mess sorted out in less time rather than more... I wouldn't agree to such a long build time, but everyone has to make their own decision. Perhaps if you live with relatives in a huge house and have no pressing money issues, it isn't a big deal... Re: 315 building days with Metricom 25Aug 30, 2009 5:28 pm Hi dida, we are also building with M and had lots of headaches with head office but I can reassure you that things seem to get better once you start building. We have had all good-fantastic tradesmen (except for the tilers but after them fixing things it looks a lot better). We are building a 40square home and our contract was for 320 days but things have been much faster. We are almost at handover and it has only been 7 months-they seem to speed along once they get started. If you get a good SS your will be made a lot easier. Good Luck. Re: 315 building days with Metricom 26Aug 31, 2009 5:33 pm we're building 48sq with M and our contract stated 320 days... which did sound horrible compared with others. however, it's now 180 days in and we're about one month off from handover... so it really might not be as bad as it sounds. Nope not the Imperial, we're building the Promenade 43 but with a bigger outdoor room and added a rumpus out the back, making it 48. You can look up my thread.
