Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 27, 2009 10:12 pm Hi guys, I got the concrete poured today after the delay due to bad weather. Well, Melbourne has 4 seasons in a day, so I'm a bit worry if shower tomorrow. Is it good, bad, or or no effect at all to the slab if it gets showered? Re: Slab & rain 2Aug 27, 2009 10:15 pm From my understanding it's no problem at all. Unless you get very heavy rain during the pour or straight after then you are fine. My slab go rained on quite a bit while they were still finishing it off and there was no ill affect. The one next door to me was the same. In fact by tomorrow you can walk on it and probably jump up and down on it if you want so rain will be fine. Re: Slab & rain 3Aug 27, 2009 10:35 pm Yep ^^ ^^ ^^ ideal for curing... I guess summer time is not an ideal time to start building as the weather can be extremely hot. The slab will dry too quick, then easily crack. Next thing I want to check is whether the slab is level or not. I've bought the bubble level bar. What actually cause the unleveled slab surface? Re: Slab & rain 7Aug 28, 2009 7:44 am When our slab was poured, we had light drizzle/rain in the afternoon (slab was poured in the morning). Now we have 'concrete dusting' as a result. The slab isn't smooth and shiney like others, very rough and always dusty. The concreters came back to 'seal' it so the tilier could adhese the tiles, however it's still dusty as! Coral are good tho', they are going to fix the garage slab as this is the only exposed part and we don't want continuous dust being walked into the house when we move in. So basically, if you ask me, I wouldn't want any rain on a slab the day it's being poured!
