Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 27, 2009 10:32 am Hi all We had our plumbing rough in done the other day and have a gas point installed on our alfresco area so that we can connect the BBQ to it. The point is against a wall. Does anyone know if it's possible in the future to add a gas outlet on the exact opposite side of the wall - that is, on the internal side? Would it be as simple as making a hole and adding a t-junction? (We did get an internal gas outlet - but instead of putting it opposite the external one like on our plan - they've put it in another living area - which is fine - a good spot for a heater as well!) Also - anyone know if there are any regulations on location of slow combustion fire places near gas outlets? If we don't put a gas outlet on the internal wall opposite the external one - I thought a fireplace might be nice - but am worried about safety. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Natural Gas outlets - cloning, wood fire places 2Sep 07, 2009 7:56 am Would it be as simple as making a hole and adding a t-junction? I can't see why not, as long as it is done by a qualified Gas Fitter. Slow combustion Heaters must be located a certain distance away from internal walls, so I don't think that a gas line in the wall would be a problem, but again that is a good question to ask your Gas Fitter. Re: Natural Gas outlets - cloning, wood fire places 3Sep 07, 2009 12:00 pm You would have to check with a plumber if the gas line is sized correctly to run both appliances (not that you'd be running them at the same time?) Re: Natural Gas outlets - cloning, wood fire places 4Sep 07, 2009 1:32 pm Thanks folks! I don't think we'd be running them at the same time. I asked our SS and he said it shouldn't be a problem. I'll ask the gas fitter when he comes around to add a gas point in the laundry. After 4 years - we're in!
