In one way we are happy to wait to move in as this time of year is just too hectic and most of our friends are away to help move. BADH - our SS let us use their electrician to put in our lights. He said that it saves us money as he doesn't have to come back. We got the driveway included in the tender and got the concreters to put the path down along side the garage as an extra expense. The brickie is also coming back to do the mailbox during the break. Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 143Dec 23, 2009 1:10 pm Looking great R,Cant wait to come around and have a cuppa in your beautiful new kitchen!! Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 144Dec 23, 2009 5:46 pm Way to go R, think i will be getting my brickie back for my mailbox too. Might be worth while me speaking to the concreters that do my driveway to do a path down the side also.....good idea i reckon. Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 145Dec 23, 2009 8:18 pm The cake and coffee is waiting for you Kkatt. Jasche, we just asked the concretors the day they were boxing the driveway. It wasn't too much trouble for them. Just paid for it when it was poured. Luckily the term guard was been done at the same time so it was covered by the path. R Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 146Dec 23, 2009 8:23 pm Yeah will have to see if it fits in with my landscaping budget,.........hopefully can afford to have it done then. Still have to pay for a fence aswell. SS reckons i should be in by Feb, amazing how fast are going lately for me. Cant wait to be where you are up to Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 147Dec 23, 2009 8:42 pm You could definitely be in by Feb. We were checking dates yesterday and it has been 3 months since the slab was poured to the house been 99% finished. Your house is not too much different to ours so you should have a similar time line. R Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 148Dec 23, 2009 9:09 pm Fingers crossed, .....my alfresco area is posing as a bit of an obstacle because i am getting the same as the display home but have changed the blueboard materials with bricks and this throws out measurements with the opening entry width (i need it at least 1500mm), i have to fit a pool table in thru it ;0) Also with the stacker stone fireplace and bricks changes the depth of my bench seating changes so the SS, brickie boss and myself are sitting down together just after new years to try and nut out a way to do it......I was told I am the first customer to ask for the alfresco to be made like the diplay homes'. It was a nightmare when i went to do my colour selections becaue they didnt have any plans for the alfresco and didnt know what it was made out of or its dimensions(apparhently Jim himself and a local tradie built it just to give people ideas of how to deck out an alfresco). hopefully the rain holds off 2moro so the brickies can finish off the main house leaving only the alfresco bricks to do..... How were you able to get photos of your kitchen being constructed? ( is that in lock out stage) Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 149Dec 23, 2009 9:27 pm May be you need to get Jim to come in and build it for you. Hubby asked the SS what day it was going in and was able to get to the house on that day. R Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 150Dec 23, 2009 10:31 pm It's all looking fabulous R and R, can't believe how quickly it's all happening. What a great way to start the new year, getting ready to move into your new house. If you don't mind me asking, what was the price for the driveway and did you have a colour put through the concrete. We have to organise ours after handover. Have a budget of $10k for a double garage so hoping I am close to the mark with that. Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 152Dec 24, 2009 7:04 pm Thanks pacu, the driveway all up was $6500 not including the extra we paid for the path. Our driveway only has a single crossover. It has no colour in it. R Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 154Dec 24, 2009 8:16 pm No problems. Would you like us to get an approx m2 for you. I forgot to say that it also inclded the fee to the council for the crossover. We also have no kerb and guterring. It just goes staight onto the road. Not sure about showing the moving in photos as our house will not be as gorgeous as some that I see on here. It will look quite sparse for a while as we will need more furniture but then again I don't want to fill all the extra space we will have. R Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 155Dec 25, 2009 2:20 pm Thanks R & R If you know the m2 great, if not don't go to too much trouble for it. A brand new house all by itself is pretty good,so don't worry about it not being gorgeous enough. Re: R and R's Masterton Sirocco 7 - so close to moving in 156Dec 27, 2009 11:29 pm Hey R, My wife and I are building same house as you. I've commented on this thread when your slab was done in september but somehow completely forgot about keeping up with your progress until you posted recently on the main masterton thread. You've got us all excited now seeing how quickly your house is going up... it's nowhere near as long as the 32 week contract?? We've had our piers poured and the formwork put up for slab so just need plumbing done before slab gets poured. It seems as though a 4 month build time may be very realistic? Is the step around the perimeter of the slab for the bricks to be laid on... i thought it was strange that it stepped down from the normal floor level of the slab? Also... I want to start a thread on our build but can't upload our photo's via this forum.... how have you done it? We noticed yesterday that the house had been cleaned on the inside.(We can't get in) . The outside needs a lot of work. There are rocks and clumps of concrete everywhere. It is a shame we didin't have our tanks as we have had heaps of rain over the last few days. The step on the slab is for the bricks to sit on. There is a step down into the garage and alfresco area. To post photos I shrink the photos to 600x800 and upload them into Photobucket. Then you copy and paste the img code into the post. The img code is under each photo. When you do a preview of your post you should be able to see the photos. Hope this helps. Would love to see photos of your build.
