Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1161May 06, 2010 7:05 am Hi Bexi - that is really interesting! Thank you for posting all the details - on the incomplete items of your PCI and the electricity connection. The electricity connection thing really is puzzling. It makes me uneasy when things are so inconsistent ... which then makes owners nervous, likely to question everything and lose trust... Oh well, I am glad for you that you are almost done though! Hurray! The sandwhich maker test was funny. I've just had another look at our tender as the 3-phase power connection sounded familiar and there's another section in our tender which reads: "Provide 3-phase underground service cable from consumer property pole to meter box. Meter box to be wired to suit single phase meters. Aerial power connection from consumer property pole to supply authority network arranged by owner. (9.0 metres allowed)" So looks like there's no getting around it for us. I wonder why they're so inconsistent across the whole customer base? Bexi doesn't seem to have a property pole nor require aerial connection. Rather, Masterton are connecting from the supply authority network underground to the meter box. Whereas our site and tender (and Lizzy's, Kkatt's and BADH's, for example), all have aerial connections required from a property pole on site that connects the meter box to the supply network. That is, in most of our cases Masterton will connect from the pole to the meter box on site, but the owner has to do the connection from the pole to network. If this is correct, then I feel better that there is some method to the madness. I hate it when service providers are random, but hopefully this is not the case here. What do you think? This is the wording from our tender: By Owner: "The aerial power connection from the 3 phase service cables located within the galvanised consumer property pole to the supply authorities network is to be arranged by the owner". Included [Masterton]: "Provide a new galvanised consumer property pole and up to 8 meters of 3-phase underground service cable from the property pole to the meter box. The meter box is to be wired to suit single phase meter". I hope that helps??? What's thrown a spanner in the works is that Masterton has told me that everyone has to pay for connection to the network (even though mine is already done! I think one thing that's for sure is that if you have an aeriel connection or your tender states anything about "owner to organise connection", then you definitely are up for some kind of cost. If your tender doesn't state anything about the owner being responsible for any kind of connection then maybe it's luck of the draw Building Sirocco 7 Kellyville Ridge - 630Sqm block Build topic - viewtopic.php?uid=16738&f=31&t=27636&start=0 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1166May 06, 2010 12:31 pm These power connection, Bricks cleaning and Occupation certificate are driving me nuts at the moment. Bexi - yes, I think you are right, the staff are causing the confusion. While I can see why some people pay and others don't depending on site conditions, its Masterton's management of it (and perhaps lack of knowledge on the part of their staff about variables) that continually throws us owners into confusion! We where unsure when to connect the power. I rang the Electrical provider other day and was informed that it was connected a month ago, when the guy finished our power pole etc. We where asked at our PCI this week when is the power going to be on? As the alarm guy and cleaner need power!! Well power is now sorted out and on. Its all so confusing Power,OC's ,final payments, the bank wanting OC,non returned calls to masterton seeking advice. ARRR, I just want it to be all over. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1171May 07, 2010 11:28 pm I everyone, we've been MIA for some time now and all i can say is holy crap! what are we in for reading about the delays, dramas, and extra cost makes my blood run cold! we'll be pouring over our contract again tomorrow after reading this thread. We have paid our plan fee and waiting on a new estimate as we have mirror reversed our plan so that all windows in rumpus and family room face east. We have also added a wind across the back of our kitchen bench instead of a splash back for extra light and we increased the size of the home office so that in the event we want to use it as a guest room we can fit a queen size bed we have also added a BIR in there too. ( always thinking of resale value and practicalities!) we'll receive this next week. we've also reverted to the standard bathroom designs for main and ensuite, they tried to tell us that separate toilets were dates and unfashionable tell that to someone who is busting fr the loo while another is in the bath or shower! Anyone installing a free standing bath tub? fighting over this one as we are being told that the bathroom floors will need reinforcing with beams to carry the weight of the bath when it's full and the hassle of cleaning behind them ( let me worry about that Puh-lease! ) I thin the hobs look too dated and waste too much space. Someone asked about a laundry chute - yes we put one in. I'll try and post pics up if I can work it out. We have the opportunity to move across the road as our neighbours ( the built with clarendon, it took 7 months without a htich!) are just about to do the walk through next week and give notice on their lease to move out by the end of July which is 3 months ahead of our schedule! My Baby is due first week of July not sure if i can manage moving house the week before and the chaos asociated in the weeks after! hope you all have a great weekend! (Not that I'm biased, mind you. ) I absolutely love your pantry. We'd thought about it but wanted the extra space outside so that we could build an alfresco so couldn't extend the wideth of the back too much. I wish they'd had the Savoy facade when we finalised our plans! That extended balcony will be gorgeous. One thing to look out for... if you're having air conditioning installed, they will probably need to put an aircon void somewhere upstairs between the main bathroom and bedroom 2. They automatically built a wall in the bathroom, reducing significantly the size of our hob without speaking with us so it was a bit of a battle having that changed. If you can, see if you can plan the aircon void locations before your plans are settled. Our Peg out was ordered by Masterton last week Friday, so im hoping something happens this week... Thanks for your kind compliments, I have attached a blog to the signature this has some of the detail over the colours etc.. Went a little on the conservative side as we are thinking that we may sell within 5 years whilst its still considered "new" so nothing too out there in terms of colours. Are you doing a demo?
