Love all your colours. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2422Feb 07, 2012 9:48 pm Got our final plans today by email and there are some things missed off. The most disappointing thing is the facade. Due to the slope of our block the house now just looks really long because they have added four courses of bricks to the front. I also have 8 stairs with railings going to my front door. I just didnt realise it was that sloped! the garage looks outta whack so im trying to keep it together until we see our csm. Also when we got the original run of the mill plans there was a landing and stairs out of the laundry. On our finals it says landing by owner. WTF? do they want me to bungee out of the laundry? The first of many bumps Im sure. Just wanted to say that, if you can, avoid Alison at Don's tiles Narellan (although it can be tricky as she seems to be the only person who can take bookings). We have finished all the tender variation stages and everything and everyone has been pleasant and helpful with the extremely notable exception of Alison. Her curt attitude and general unhelpfullness was an extreme example of bad service. Luckily, it gelled us into action and we managed to get through the consultation intact. Upon attending the electrical appointment at Norwest, I was surprised to find another well equipped Don's tiles that I never new existed (and which is not mentioned on the website). Apparently, many attendees expressed similar surprise so there is definitely a communication issue. The best thing is that you can do electrical, alarm, air con and tiles on the same day at Norwest. Wow thanks for that. We have been through this process before and I dont know who Alison is but we didnt have any problems at all infact we got a girl from islander decent and she even gave us tiles at a discounted rate. Will go and visit the Norwest one before our next tile appointment it may be less frantic if no one knows about it Cheers and good luck viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46741 Clovelly - Masterton Homes 5% to M 290312 CDC 21/06 20 days 29/08 Slab 17/09 Frame 26/09 Bricks 24/10 Roof tiles 20/11 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2425Feb 08, 2012 2:04 pm Hi All. First off, Id like to thank everyone for supplying info, prices and details to this thread (and forum) as it has been a great help to me in deciding what to ask Masterton to include in the tender. I have been researching plans and companies for a few years now while waiting to sell my other house. I decided on the Sirocco 7 as I have a large block (1157sqm) and the layout is ideal. The sale of my other house will settle this Friday (woohoo) so in the last few weeks I have seriously been researching and educating myself on what I require, and what to look for with Masterton. Site inspection was done on the 30th of Jan and are currently at the point of our local sales office sending off the details to Sydney today, so I should hopefully know in around a couple of weeks time where I stand?? So far Ive managed to squeeze this out of the sales office: Base Price - $189,250 (9 month old regional price) Mansion package - $4,990 Ducted A/C - $5,990 Alfresco with slab - Free Platinum package - $15,000 optional bathroom layout - $1595 Study/5th bedroom option - $10,500 2nd coat of coloured paint (standard is 1 coat of tinted undercoat and 1 coat of colour) - $900 Here's the other things that I have opted for but are waiting for pricing (thanks to you guys for info too): 2700mm ceilings Ducted Glass canopy range-hood. Tiled Recess to showers in both the bathroom and ensuite Enviroseal wall wrap Feature wall painting to Media room. (one wall only). Terracotta roof tiles (Nouveau) and sarking (if required). 2 x whirlybirds 4 x snap vents to eaves triple stacker sliding doors water line to fridge space for ice-maker? sound proofing to home theater? extend the front of the garage to the same line as the master bedroom Will be interested to see the site and basix costs. I already have power/water/phone/septic connected and running to the cabin. Bush fire report done. (BAL 19) Its a bit like counting the jelly beans in the jar at the moment. Any one want to have a guess at my total price? Prize for closest guess is your a dead-set legend Cheers, Paul. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2426Feb 08, 2012 9:13 pm dsa39 The first of many bumps Im sure. I'm afraid so. PS_Sirocco7 - $290k give or take $2k. Also whoever told you a 2nd (technically 3rd) coat of paint is only $900 is way off. More like $3k for a house your size. We are now just waiting for final validation. Was told today that the engineers report that was supposedly incorrect wasn't even needed. More time wasted. More like $3k for a house your size. Yeah I thought the price for the extra coat seemed a little cheap. Must have been a mix up in communication from the sales office. Might have to do the painting myself if the price is too much. I remember reading someone else did this. (might have been you)?? Not sure if I should get M to do the first 2 coats and then I come along and do the 3rd or if I should do the 2nd and 3rd. Depends on what they will credit me for the 2nd coat I guess?? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2428Feb 09, 2012 2:52 pm Sorry to Hijack your thread Beebob but I propose a new thread!! Maybe titled "Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0"?? This thread is great but very long. It took me a couple of days to get through it all. Dont get me wrong, it is full of great info and pricing etc.... but the info is all over the place and is getting outdated now as it was started around 2.5 years ago. I noticed the first thread was finished after 30 pages and only 1 year old. Maybe we should put a "cap" on these threads to say 1 year? Thus keeping the posted info and prices relevant to the times? There's a few in this thread that have completed their builds under the old system, some dont post here any more, some do. I say make a new thread for the people who are currently in the building/negotiating process with masterton in the new system. I also propose that the first and/or second post in the new thread be kept for any pricing info and quotes and links to product websites etc.... even links to everyones blogs and/or build threads. I dont mind doing this myself and I can start with prices I have copied out of this thread just to get the ball rolling. This way everyone can refer to the first and/or second post on the first page for pricing info and links etc..... This would make it very user friendly for future people looking to find info and pricing if considering building with masterton. Any objections? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2429Feb 09, 2012 8:05 pm While your idea sounds good the problem is keeping those first few posts up to date. It ends up being quite a lot of work and when whoever is doing it cant be bothered anymore than no more updates. I think something similar was tried in the original M thread. But hey if you have the time go for it. I'll be posting wherever everyone else is posting/reading and I'll continue to contribute however possible. Regarding the paint, yes that was me. They credited us almost $4k to not paint it. However you only have 2 options, M paint it or you paint it. There is no in between where they will do the undercoat and you can do top coats etc. We must have the longest running time frame from DA approval to Construction ever. Still waiting and starting to get @#$% off now. Novo - Do you have a slab yet? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2430Feb 09, 2012 9:03 pm PS_Sirocco7 Hi All. Hi Paul Ok here are some estimates for the above 2700mm ceilings - 2740mm to ground floor only 6350 Ducted Glass canopy range-hood. - ducting is about $500 Tiled Recess to showers in both the bathroom and ensuite - $970 Enviroseal wall wrap - last we checked special was $800 Feature wall painting to Media room. (one wall only). Terracotta roof tiles (Nouveau) and sarking (if required). 2 x whirlybirds 4 x snap vents to eaves triple stacker sliding doors - we got 2 for $4369 water line to fridge space for ice-maker? - $250 sound proofing to home theater? extend the front of the garage to the same line as the master bedroom - extended garage width by 900mm $5845 Hope this helps Cheers Dani viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46741 Clovelly - Masterton Homes 5% to M 290312 CDC 21/06 20 days 29/08 Slab 17/09 Frame 26/09 Bricks 24/10 Roof tiles 20/11 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2431Feb 09, 2012 10:22 pm dsa39 Hope this helps Cheers Dani Thanks Dani. I appreciate the info. I didnt realise the triple stacker doors were that expensive. And I actually thought the 2700mm high ceilings would be more so it kind of balances. Will be interesting to see my 1st tender when it comes in. All I can do at the moment is try and guesstimate as to the costs so the info you have provided helps. Thanks again. Hey Paul I should have mentioned these stacker doors meet at right angles and lead to the alfresco so u can open right up so probably more expensive I have an old tender from last year I'll dig it out for u see if I can find more prices Keep in mind we are building a split level so area they are quoting on will be slightly different Good luck Cheers dani viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46741 Clovelly - Masterton Homes 5% to M 290312 CDC 21/06 20 days 29/08 Slab 17/09 Frame 26/09 Bricks 24/10 Roof tiles 20/11 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2434Feb 09, 2012 11:46 pm dsa39 Good luck Cheers dani Hopefully mine will be cheaper as it is on 1 wall and opens on the same tracks etc... Thanks again jamesm_79 I may be wrong but I think M has a current promo where the Mansion Package is free because of Jim's birthday..... Cause Jim wouldn't have it any other way! I was in a M sales office last weekend and grabbed a hand full of brochures and the latest promo is the free "Gold Mansion package" to celebrate 50 years of Masterton. The only real difference I spotted was the 20mm Stone bench tops to the bathroom and ensuite. Thats about it really. I opted for the previous promotion which is: Mansion package ($4,990) + Ducted AC ($5,990) + 12sqm Alfresco with slab (Free) which I think is one of the best deals they've had for a while now. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2436Feb 12, 2012 11:21 am I heard Masterton have layed off most of their Canberra staff, and the new office is not that old. Are they downsizing, or maybe they will be running it from Sydney again. Hope not!! Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2438Feb 15, 2012 2:42 pm I am looking to build the Symphony but I have heard that the whole building process is extremely stressful, with the whole colour, materials selections happening over a short amount of time. I am a pretty busy person, having to go interstate for business. Does anyone know where the location of the studios where we need to make our selections eg kitchen, bathroom etc? And how much time we get to make those selections? I need to know what I am getting myself into in regards to time and effort for building (vs just buying another home).
