Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2141Jun 01, 2011 12:18 am Hi Cathy, I am told I will do my colour selections and electricals after I sign my contract and paid my deposit (5%). While I am doing my colour, MH will submit my plans for CDC approval. The first plan you will get back is the presentation plan. For me, it took 4 weeks. You will then have an appointment with your consultant to go though the plans in details and to sign and confirm the plans. During the appointment, you will need to confirm all the changes you have requested are in the plans and are drawn correctly. We were still able to make minor changes like moving the garden taps and change the opening of some of the internal doors. After you sign the plans, it will then go back to H/O for processing. ie they will amend the plans and fix up any errors you've have picked up. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2142Jun 01, 2011 9:02 pm You can supply and install your own and keep the appliances and sell them on ebay you'll make a profit that way. We have AEG in our contract we were going to get a credit but when we saw how much that credit was we decided to keep them and see them. we'll get more on ebay! No point in fitting your kitchen of you dream home with something you are not happy with. and with Harvey Norman, Bing lee. you can get a good deal on something like smeg. YOu can also specify what appliances you want and they will source them for you and give you a price for them too. I was quite appalled at acents quotes and refued to deal with them they were so expensive it was insulting. we are floors done after handover Building The Santorini Custom BA Signed 22/09/10 DA Approval 20/1/11 Demo 28/2/11 Pool 18/3/12 Slab 22/07/12 Frame 24/8/12 Bricks 7/09/12 Roof 19/10/11 Blog http://santorinidreams.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2143Jun 01, 2011 9:14 pm Hi Sunny and Warm Thanks for your reply. Will you still get them to install the AEG appliances or ask them not to install them. Which Miele appliances did you end up going with and what was the cost if you don't mind be asking. I am going to choose our bricks tomorrow and realised we also need to choose the window colours but not sure where we look to choose those as don't have any brochures with them in. I am thinking at the moment to go with Pearl Grey Bricks, Traditional Barramundi Roof Tiles, Dune Downpipes and Fascia Boards. Not sure on the guttering maybe Monument or Woodland Grey. Still deciding on the garage colour thinking Paperbark, Dune or Shale Grey. Is there only one garage type I get to choose. Are supplying them and installing after handover. we wont be installing the AEG. There is no such thing as discount or sales in the world of Miele what ever is the ticket price is what we paid however we were able to get into the 4hr sale 3 weeks ago (I think they have these once a year for old stock but not sure) and got a good deal on our dishwasher microwave and range hood. the rest we paid full price for. We got a fully inergrated dishwasher, microwave, steamer, and cappucino machine and rangehood Building The Santorini Custom BA Signed 22/09/10 DA Approval 20/1/11 Demo 28/2/11 Pool 18/3/12 Slab 22/07/12 Frame 24/8/12 Bricks 7/09/12 Roof 19/10/11 Blog http://santorinidreams.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2145Jun 01, 2011 9:40 pm CathyP Hi Sunny and Warm Thanks for your reply. Miele currently have a sale from 1/6-31/7 if you spend over $7500 save 5% and $200 off dishwashers. Their basic entry level oven is $1699. Its taken a long time to get to this point! Really hoping the next part of the process isnt too drawn out, and that our construction will start in November. If council and Masterton are "co-operative" I think [hope] that is achievable! Time will tell..... I have been watching your builds over the past 6 months or so, and very excited for you. One thing for sure (now that I have been looking at other builders - long story), despite some problems (particularly with SCs at paperwork stages), Masterton definitely do finish the builds quickly. The roof angle needs to be changed as the drafter changed this rather than the size of the window for the Facade. I am not sure about the location of the Rain Water tank as it will be right out the door leading from the Study which I have there as I will be working from home and so if I have clients coming to the house that don't have to go all through the house. We have decided to go with 2 side by side ovens under a hob for now as we will not get much money back if we got our own appliances and we can upgrade later when in the house. We have to decide the ovens in the electricals so for the moment the one in the plans is wrong but that will be changed. We have added in the following to the standard plan: Laundry Shute Internal Door to Study and extended width of study by 2500 as well as adding sliding door to outside Exhaust Fan to Laundry Door to WIR Mansion Package Platinum Package Ducted Air Con Change the Sliding door to Alfresco to be the same as off the Great Room at the back Extended depth of Garage by 1 metre Gas Point to Alfresco Water to Alfresco Alfresco 5500mm wide x 7400mm depth Fly screens Sarking Weatherproof powerpoint in Alfresco Upgrade metre box to 3 phase Allowance for Masterton to do driveway (not sure about this one, did anyone else get Masterton to do the driveway). Any feedback would be appreciated. It looks like the Villina plan. On driveway - I didn't think Masterton liked doing driveways? Certainly when we were talking with them we were told we were better off getting that done separately as MH will sub it out and add on 20%. Masterton have quoted a provisional amount for the Driveway so not sure if I should get them to do it or find someone else. My husband thinks that we should get them to do it so that it is done when we move in. My husband thinks that we should get them to do it so that it is done when we move in. Cathy Have they said they will do it prior to hand-over? I would have expected they would do it after hand-over. Maybe to satisfy yourself just get a few quotes from other companies and then decide. Certainly can be easy going through one company (like for floor coverings etc) but you will probably pay more. We aren't going with Masterton anymore (long story...) but when we were about to sign up we had decided not to get Masterton to do our driveway or floor coverings. Read back on this thread (it could take a few weeks!) as people have posted about driveways and the like earlier... or just do a word search.
