Otherwise there is a gap betn the brick below the floor and the inner frame Sorry don't know the answer Ekman, but there was some discussion of this on Bexi's thread around 4 May: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=27636&p=468038&hilit=tiles+threshold#p468038 From what I can gather, probably not. What floor coverings do you have in your entrance? Tiles, timber or carpet? We are thinking of carpet and I was recently wondering a similar question: what happens in that threshold? The mountains of detail in building a house never ceases to amaze (and scare!) me... There seems to be so many little hurdles or maybe they are just low on builder staff and want to slow it down? My council approval came through and I am still in preconstruction. havent got my LOC or construction cert yet but that hopefully isnt too far. i have my peg out done already and sewer peg out. is that the normal process?? Sorry I'm a bit clueless as they change the order of the process every day. Welcome again BZMZ! You are building the Crystal, right? Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, I am still in paperwork phase. But I think the time can vary greatly. There have been posts on this before (can't remember where - I spent 3 weeks reading all the MH posts, so all I know it is there somewhere). Good luck! I have just joined today and as you can tell am post happy Yes I am building with the Crystal. Did you custom design your own home with M? That's amazing! Yes, the paperwork phase is soo much fun isnt it (not). So much for a fixed price. My CSC told me that its only fixed when you "validate" the contract and start construction. Otherwise there is a gap betn the brick below the floor and the inner frame Ekman we had this issue... i realised about 6 weeks ago that we hadnt been asked to pick a tile for the front door step up... everyones thread either showed a tiled step up or a patio... so i contacted masterton and was told we didnt get it cause it wasnt in our contract... i was pretty angry about it as we paid 6.5k for our facade... but i got a call from dons tiles the other day to say that they had forgotten about it and could we come in and pick one... i told him that masterton had said it wasnt standard and that it wasnt in our contract... and he said that it was standard on all masterton homes... so to answer your question... yes you should get tiles at the front door Building the Crystal in Wollongong NSW 26th Sept 09 - Paid $2500 1st May 10 - Slab poured 14th May 10 - Frame complete 8th June 10 - Roof complete 21st June 10 - Bricks complete 30th June 10 - Lock Up 6th August - PCI 18th August - Handover Our building thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=27639 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1318Jun 25, 2010 4:06 pm Hi Ekman I went to Di Lorenzo tiles and they asked me too so yes it is standard. They checked if it was included (were going to charge me at first) but then came back saying it was included back and front steps (out the glass doors). 1st Tender - 20 March 2010 Slab - 14 August 2010 Frames - 31 August 2010 Roof - 11 September 2010 Bricks finished - 2 October 2010 Lock up - 15 October 2010 Keys - 10 December 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Renee - that is insane! Shouldn't Masterton staff know what is or isn't standard, before sending people around and around and causing such stress?! There have been several of these kinds of things happening, what is going on with MH staff education?!?!? (Great for you though, thanks to Dons...). Does that mean they agreed to rectify the defects stated by the building inspector? T[/quote] Well, there's one major issue (control joints at the 1st floor rear bick wall) found by PCA & Howard's which they don't want to fix. We called the PCA last couple of days ago and they're requiring masterton to submit an engineer's report on why they don't need to put a control joints on the rear brick wall. I've been following up with our CC about the re-inspection result but no reply and found out today that she's on leave. We also contacted the Office of Fair Trading about these issues and they have advised that they will send their own inspector if the defects have not been rectified since it doesn't comply with the building codes. Fingers and toes crossed, I hope they'll fixed their own mess up since its not fun going all through these hassles.
