We had a pre-DA meeting with our Council with privacy screens on our plans (upstairs and downstairs alfrescos - expecting them to require them) and they said they didn't want the screens as it obscured the 'openness' of the site. I said "but we have sliders there and people can see in from the street", and the Council response was "we prefer more windows to give an 'open' feel so please reduce or delete the screens"!!! Go figure. Privacy screen was essentially a fence extension not an actual window cover. We ended up getting a new fence with those neighbours anyway. The reason why council made us do it is that we are on a sloping street and the lower neighbours objected to the DA in regards to their loss of privacy. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1115Apr 22, 2010 4:08 pm ah yes, there is a difference. A fellow building a Fernleigh / Manhattan Custom around the corner from us was also required to put up a fence screen ($400 and it is tiny). Your neighbours sound picky, especially as from your pics there doesn't seem to be that much of a slope downstreet... Are you on better terms with them now? Are they happy with the build? I do hope so... Power connection: our tender also says connection to power pole by owner. Did you find any faults? Also do they connect and power up your water tank pump during installation of the appliances? Santorini Grande Executive Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1117Apr 22, 2010 5:56 pm R & R, How did you actually get your power connected? Once you got the keys, did you just ring up the integral energy and ask them to connect it? Was it as simple as that? Also, what fee did they charge you? I'm freaking out about this extra $1000 but with you saying you had no fee, makes this an interesting topic? The electrician tried charging us extra to get the meter put in. We spoke to Masterton and it is part of the contract that the electrician has with Masterton so you shouldn't be up for any extra. We confirmed this with our electrical supplier. R Maybe it depends on where you are building and who your power supplier is. Right from our first tender it said connection to power pole by owner. So Masterton gives us the pole and we had to connect it to the telegraph pole. Cost us just under $900. DRAM There's another thing though, floor tiles & carpet can only be installed after handover and I'm not sure whether the PCA will use it as an issue not to give us the final OC. Flooring does not affect getting your OC. It's more about whether or not you house is safe to live in. So the certifier needs certification from plumbers, electricians, termiguard etc which Masterton will supply them. Also any special conditions from your DA have to be met as well. In our case a privacy screen. Cheers Badh - How long your interim certificate valid? Do you have to pay the PCA again for the final OC issuance? R&R & Bexi - That's really interesting since $1000 seems to be a lot just for electricity connection but like what Badh says based on our tender electricity connection to meter box is by owner. I may have to contact Integral energy and confirm the fees later on. Theres alot of things popping up all the time that you dont relize you need. Cant wait till its all over Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 1120Apr 22, 2010 8:55 pm oh man.. poor kkat, I know how it feels. Lucky We got our pole as part of the contract. Since we got 3 lots, after building we need to consolidate the land into 1 as part of the DA conditions, looks like 3-4K down the drain there.
