Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 05, 2007 4:23 pm Well folks, Saturday was the day that the removalist came (7:00am) and we were in the new place by about 11:30am.
Then the fun began .... boxes everywhere .... mud everywhere .... mop out constantly to get rid of the mud being bought in from outside. By Saturday night we were pretty much set up in our bedroom, the kitchen, dining and family areas. Study is a bit of a sty and Sarah's bedroom is set up but with boxes all around the place ... but in general, pretty organised. First dinner party on Sunday night was a hit with a big thumbs up on the new place. It's horrible not having a driveway or any landscaping done (the amount of 'clay' soil that I have removed from our floors could have made a whole crockery set, but I guess that's part of the joys of a new house. I'm sure when it's all done I'll laugh about it, but right now .. it's just plain annoying!!! I found the camera last night so will take some photos and bore you to tears on the blog with how everything looks. It's an absolute joy to come home at night. I quite often just sit and look at my kitchen, or even look out at the bog mire of a backyard and watch the dogs run through the mud ... still can't get the stupid smile off my face. yippeeeeeee www.ourdreamhouse.blogspot.com Re: It's official - we're in our new house!! 2Jun 05, 2007 4:26 pm Let me be the first to congratulate you!!!

I like the look of your timber floors. Could you give me some detail about them, ie what type of timber is it and if it's not too much to ask, how much per square meter did you pay to have it installed? Cheers, Vlad Re: It's official - we're in our new house!! 10Jun 05, 2007 11:32 pm perryr So cool! Please keep your blog updated with pictures of landscaping etc. We are all very interested! Perry Absolutley!! Congrats your floor just looks sensational. Will continue to enjpy following your blog! Cheers Re: It's official - we're in our new house!! 12Jun 06, 2007 11:21 am Congratulation!
I thought you need to finish landscape & driveway before council allows you to move in?? Any way, all the best and make sure you reserve some budget for your landscaping and others (mentioned about wedding in your blog) ? Saw yur blog and your house look stunning!! Where abouts in Melb is it? Your profile location says Melbourne East and i'm in the East as well. Re: It's official - we're in our new house!! 18Jun 07, 2007 9:31 am Mike - floor boards are timber floating. Couldn't quite afford the really expensive stuck down timber, but didn't at all like the laminate job that looks like timber (although now I wouldn't mind having some of that money so that I can do the garden!!). Anyway - we are really happy with them. I admire them each time i come home!!
Minx - we are in Lyndhurst (I actually think that's south east not east???). Re: It's official - we're in our new house!! 19Jun 07, 2007 10:19 am Thnx Amber... Still haven't decided which way we're going to go. Getting so many different opinions on floating or stuck down. Speak to one tradie & he says floating is the way to go, then speak to the next guy & he says don't go near floating, stick it to the slab! .... What to do? My Blog... http://ahouseonthehill.blogspot.com/ Re: It's official - we're in our new house!! 20Jun 07, 2007 10:24 am It's the same old thing isn't it ... ask 5 people and you generally get 4 different responses. I think at the end of the day, like everything, you go with what's right for you financially and what you like.
I have no idea what the difference is between floating and stuck down timber. Sorry, I know the difference, just don't know the pro's and con's to both types. Logically the floating floor thing sounds right due to the wood expanding etc. Anyway ... personal preference is the key I say. Good luck in your choice ... look forward to hearing your outcome. of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23764 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23886 Yes well there solution is to blame everyone else while I a 65yr old woman with major medical problems have to just continue to boil water and wash myself in a bucket… 2 16005 |
