Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 22, 2009 1:01 am Hi I am a first time builder. The company I have gone through is very well know. The tiles I picked in my selections are not the tiles that have been laid and also the walls are not painted the right colour either. Just wondering if this has happened to any one else? I am calliing the site manager first thing Monday morning just wondering if anyone has any tips on how or what the out come should be. Thanks Re: builder has laid wrong tiles and painted walls wrong colour 2Aug 22, 2009 3:29 am They should give you what is in your contract. Unless you like the current tiles and paint you can expect them to fix it completely without negotiation. You will find 99% of these issues are resolved. Sounds like a subcontractor error as opposed to a blatant "cost saving" exersise on the builders part. Best of luck Pete Re: builder has laid wrong tiles and painted walls wrong colour 4Aug 22, 2009 12:30 pm this is so normal, installing wrong items is common, could the tile be a variation of color. Take a tile to the selection company, they may bring light to the issue. The paint is more difficult to prove, has it been improperly mixed, is there a different name on the paint can, is it a big difference? Re: builder has laid wrong tiles and painted walls wrong colour 5Aug 22, 2009 6:13 pm Hi, we had a similar problem with our M tilers. We had wrong tiles in rooms, wrong orientation of tiles and them asking me where what tiles went where as they couldn't understand the plans-they were so hopeless. I got them to to change the major stuff-ups but some of their mistakes didn't look too bad in the end so I let them go and decided to "pick my battles'. But if it's in the contract there shouldn't be any problems in getting them changed. I had new concrete laid, extended the alfresco and had the sidewalks concreted too. I noticed the concreter didn't put the expansion foam anywhere, there are expansion… 0 8100 welcome to learning that colours vary in different lighting conditions. 1 2894 I am saying that double brick has similar thermal performance due to thermal mass effect.
