Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 21, 2009 9:15 am Hi Everyone I have really enjoyed reading the forums, in fact I have become more than a littlke addicted and have learned SO much useful information - so a big thankyou to one and all. We are planning to vacate Sydney and head to sunny Brisbane (Ningi), and will be building the Grandview 36 with M$$tricon. My current dilemma is whether we go with the Butler's Pantry option. We really want the additional cupboards that come with the BP along one side, with shelving along the other side of the pantry. However, for a pantry 3280 long, M want $3,500 for the following: - provide laminate finish pantry shelving to one side - 900mm high laminate finish base cupboards with laminate bench top - tiled splashback over bench - 2 sets of 3 pot drawers to base cupboards - provide 800mm long x 720mm high laminate finish overhead cupboards to each side of 3 thick laminate shelves. Would anyone be able to tell me if it would be much cheaper to put in the base cupboards ourselves after handover, or if the $3,500 sounds reasonable. I just want plain cupboards and not pot drawers and as I won't be having a sink I don't need the splashback. Re: Butlers Pantry - is it too expensive? 3Aug 21, 2009 11:42 am I think that seems like a good price. As we paid nearly $2K for the lift up (hydrologic ones) cupboards in our kitchen alone. We went with the butler pantry for around 2K without sink. We have the following: - Shelves as per normal on one side (chose not to upgrade to laminate shelves they were going to be like $700) - Laminate Benchtop & Cupboards on the other side (4 in total) with 2 shelves above - Tiled Splashback The drafts person stuffed up our contracts. Wrote clearly on the drawings that it was Glass Splashback but in the contract wording it had tiled. We werent to happy about this but in the end went with the tiles. I think the quote at our studio m appt was $600 for the glass splashback. All the best. The Grandview is a lovely home.
