Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 20, 2009 6:37 pm Usually to buy something, I compare price. But how can I do that in the building industry? We've got a block of land on Yorke Peninsula, SA, and want to put a 4BR transportable house on it. Several builders have suitable designs, BUT, while they all have a catalog price, they can't "fix" it until I pay them a hefty deposit of several thou. $. This of course locks us to that builder, and whatever price they finally come up with. This is like a car salesman saying they can't provide a price until a deposit is paid, which would be laughable. Has anyone any experience that can assist with this problem?
