Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 19, 2009 7:48 pm Hi, Our survey pegs were misplaced and our builder is now charging us $900 to do the re-establishment survey. The back of our lot is located at the side of the entrance of the estate and the pegs were misplaced when the developer erected the fencing at the back of our lot. Do you think I should get reimbursement from the developer? If they wont pay me, to whom can I raise the issue to at least get a refund for the $900 re-establishment fee? Appreciate all your advice. Cheers. Re: Survey Peg missing due to developer 2Aug 19, 2009 9:03 pm Ed, Definately take it up with the developer. We were in the same position as you and were looking at a $1300 re-survey. The builder would not proceed without the pegs. I went back to the developer and mentioned our issue and concerns and a few days later the pegs were redone. But I've heard of others who have refused. If that's the case and you do end up having to foot the bill for the re-establishment survey yourself, then it would probably be cheaper to organise it yourself rather than have the builder charge you for it. Often some of the pegs can be buried with 200 or 300mm of fill etc. Built 36sq Plantation "Retreat" on 4460m2 at Spring Mountain, Qld In Living and landscaping.. >>> ... http://retreatspring.blogspot.com Re: Survey Peg missing due to developer 5Aug 20, 2009 9:14 am Thanks for all your suggestions. I really appreciate it! I went to the block yesterday and tried locating all the pegs but to no avail. The back of the lot has lots of soil and water due to the digging done by the contractor who did the fencing for the developer. My problem now is that site start is already next week and if I miss my site start, then I would be charged an additional $1,500 by my builder as this is mentioned in my contract re: fixed price contract. I have also contacted the Surveying company who did the work for the developer and was quoted $500 but can only do the job after four weeks since they have lots of work at the moment. So I think my only option is to agree to have it done by the Builder and try to get reimbursement from the developer (which is very remote i guess). To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9863 Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
