Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 19, 2009 6:03 pm My partner made initial contact with our allocated site supervisor today. After asking for his license details, so that we could check it on the fair trading website, he has refused to give his license number!! He also became quite confrontational about it and wanting to know "why" we wanted these details! Of course, like anyone else building a new home, we want to check these things out....ppl don't spend HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS without making any enquiries!! Judging by his attitude, I ALREADY DON'T feel comfortable about him being our supervisor and WILL be notifying our builder's head office about these concerns. Anyway.....can anyone advise if we can get these details any other way if all else fails? Is it possible to request another supervisor, without delaying building commencement? We are FHB & unsure of some of these processes...BUT we are "learning alot" along the way!!lol Any advice will be appreciated Forgot to add that he said we are with a "reputable builder" and that he would be under their license....BUT...after doing a license check under the builders name as well...we still failed to find him listed there! Your builder can't trade without a building licence - so no fear there. You supervisor may not have a licence as only the company needs one to trade. That is normal.
