Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 13, 2009 10:15 pm Hi guys need some advise Mum is also building at the same time as us, we were a little concerned when we saw her garage slab, it's been raining a lot lately but the water seems to be sitting at the corner of the garage closest to the living areas is this normal, I would of thought that they would of made the slab slope slightly so that water would drain away from the house not into the house? Or are we worrying about nothing. LATROBE 320 WITH DENNIS FAMILY HOMES Re: Help need Feedback should this slab hold water like this 2Aug 22, 2009 10:29 am This is pretty common when floor plates have been placed as the water will pond with no where to run off. Once the DPC (Damp Proof Course) is applied and the first course is laid it wont be a problem. Remember your not watertight from above at the moment so you have expect this. Have a look at some other slabs after even 2mm of rain and you will see the same result. Your average house slab usualy has variances of .2 to .5mm, enough to cause ponding but not enough to worry about. Hope this helps Pete Re: Help need Feedback should this slab hold water like this 3Aug 22, 2009 12:28 pm pete002 This is pretty common when floor plates have been placed as the water will pond with no where to run off.
