Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 12, 2009 8:24 am Hi there, We got our keys the other day and our builder sent a leter to state that we need to get the landscaping and driveway completed prior to getting the OC. We need more time to plan the garden and the driveway, and can't keep on renting till that time. Is there any issue, if we move in without the OC and get the OC in a couple of months time, when we get the landscaping and driveway comlpeted? I didn't think you were suppose to have your final inspection until you got the COO. I wouldn't move in because what happens if the COO gets knocked back (Mine did) but you already live there. Re: Occupany Certificate 4Aug 12, 2009 12:40 pm To move in you need an INTERIM OCCUPANCY CERTIFICATE issued by your council or your private certifier (whoever you've gone with). This certificate ensures that any safety issues are addressed before you move in. You get the FINAL OCCUPANCY CERTIFICATE once you've completed everything else like landscaping & driveway. This could take months, as in our case There are very few of us who would be able to finish the whole lot before moving in. That's what IOCs are for.
