Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 10, 2009 12:15 pm Hi all, The interiors of our house will be a combination of warm-white, asian night for the cupboards, bathroom, ensuite, and kitchen, and dark carpet. We like to call our house 'Contemporary' rather than classic. We believe that contemporary houses need to have new colours, rather than the classic red-bricks, red-roof kind of pattern .. We chose the Boral Mist for our bricks. Choosing red bricks (like the Boral Kurranjon or Ratten) will be the cheaper option though .. Playing with the CAD software, I came up with the following colour combination. We think that the first one might be it, but I think that the garage door and entrance doors need to be the same colour as render surrounding them. What are your thoughts and comments ? Re: Help needed with the facade colour -multiple images attached 4Aug 10, 2009 12:54 pm I am partial to the external tiles idea too. We are having them done on our house and we are going for the contemporary look too. Here is the external tile we have chosen. It's metallic, mostly dark grey/silver undertones but also changes to a mettalic brown (like a rust type colour) in different light. 600 x 300 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Help needed with the facade colour -multiple images attached 5Aug 10, 2009 5:19 pm Thanks for your comments. We thought of going with tiles as well, but at the colour selection, they didn't seem to have the tiles we wanted. We might do the render afterword and supply our own metallic tiles I just went to one of the tiles places, and they had a dark grey one with biege colour as well. The price though is $102/sqm unfortunately, that's double the price of what the builder is charging for them. I guess we'll have to keep looking. Re: Help needed with the facade colour -multiple images attached 6Aug 10, 2009 5:25 pm I love the idea of the tiles…..but you will need to be really carful which ones you choose. Remember, you can’t clean them like a tile on the ground. I think it will be an expensive exercise for you. They are called Elements Titanio. We bought ours from European Ceramics (WA) I love the effect of them and the way they change colour. Just a thought, I am not a tiler ... but check out that it is possible to tile over render. There is a house being built near us and their feature wall has big signs over it saying do not seal or render. I am presuming this is because they intend to tile it ... Re: Help needed with the facade colour -multiple images attached 10Aug 10, 2009 6:28 pm Whats with the blue glass windows? Youve got WAY too many facade options there to choose..... Too many combinations, youll never choose one.. First one looks too matchy. Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! Re: Help needed with the facade colour -multiple images attached 13Aug 10, 2009 10:03 pm kb46 I vote for no. 4! I like no.4 and no.2 I also like the red bricks. I would have to take into account what the back of the house would like. Would it be rendered, what colour are the window, is there an alfresco area, bi-fold doors etc. before deciding what colour the bricks would be. Any clues to with the colours etc for the rear of the house PCI Done Re: Help needed with the facade colour -multiple images attached 14Aug 11, 2009 12:14 pm Thanks guys for your suggestions Jose27, that's a good point. All of our windows and alfresco door will be in black (no bi-fold door will be provided), so going with red bricks which require timber looking window and door frames won't be possible, will it ? Hi, I'll be starting on my verandah repair soon - replace ledger, rafters, roofing iron, flashing etc. (fascia board already done). My question is about the timber ledger… 0 3323 Hi all, Been browsing project builders' website and saw Masterton with attached granny flat design Seeing bad reviews from masterton in this website/facebook, does… 0 18299 |
