Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 10, 2009 11:29 am Hi, We need insulation under the floor as part of our 5 star energy rating so our building is getting the pre-made flooring which has the insualtion already attached. We are building a house on stumps we were going to get tiles in our meals and family area, but now we have decided that we would prefer Polished floorboards but we have a few questions on the matter. Can insualtion be put under the floorboards? If so how do they do it? And how expensive is it? Or would it be cheaper and easier to get the original floor laid then we put the floorboards over the top? If you have any other ideas please fill me in!!! Re: Insulation under Polished Timber Floors 2Aug 10, 2009 11:47 am There is insulation designed to be fitted between joists for under floor use. From memory they are in 10 metre rolls and obviously about 430mm wide. From memory they are in 10 metre rolls and obviously about 430mm wide. Does that cost more in labour as they have to manually fit the insualtion to the joists? As our standard flooring comes with insualtion already joined..... what would happen if we got the normal floor still and just get the floorboards over the top of the areas that we want floorboards, then we don't have to spend extra on the other areas which will just have carpet laid over it. Can it be done? Sorry I'm very new to this thing Sorry, don't know costs, but there are a couple of very important principles you need to get right (and now) .... (1) never agree to any "upgrade" unless you first know… 5 6810 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15886 2 4669 |
