And why 6 behind each TV? I'm intrigued! (And very relieved that we're going ahead and spending a couple of hundred bucks on setting up the house now, instead of maybe having to do it later.) Re: How Devious are you? 42Oct 31, 2009 10:33 pm kek I got a laugh out of this thread. I don't usually have to be devious - when it came to choosing colours, tiles, and pretty much everything else, my lovely husband just said: "You know I have no taste - whatever you want will be fine". When the electrical selection came in at $3000 more than we'd allowed for, thanks to my total overkill on lighting and power points, he just rolled his eyes and signed it. The roof tiles that were a $5000 upgrade? No problem. All the paint upgrades - about $4000 worth? By that time, he wasn't even blinking at the cost. Of course, he did insist on a few things: the timber bifolds, the upright cooker, the dumper showerhead, the appliance cupboard....all of which I wanted anyway, but I sighed and let him "win" on those. Now "we're" working on a landscape plan for the back yard. I have a feeling it's going to go my way... Hi Kek! Oh, you're so lucky! Phil (thinks he) has good taste in the design department, so every selection we've had to make so far has been a battle. . . we're both very headstrong too. . . oh, what a charmed life you lead. . . where on earth did you find such an amazing husband? Re: How Devious are you? 43Oct 31, 2009 10:36 pm Pigdaddy One for us boys then Wife and me choosing colours and whatnot (btw i own the theatre, office, main bathroom, kitchen and all outdoor area's) and we finally came to a logger head of sorts over some bench tops and other placements. The kicker being when she wanted in on the kitchen, so I said thats cool. If you want to alter the kitchen I'm ok with that... but it's a fight to the death. Kitchen stayed how I wanted it Pigdaddy you brute! You'd better be cooking EVERY NIGHT after that kind of foul play! Re: How Devious are you? 45Oct 31, 2009 10:42 pm royalblue When we built, I wasn't exactly 'devious'. But I have been told since that I was the STEAM-ROLLER! I designed every detail of the house, and most of the colour schemes and finishes were what I (we) chose. Ash. Hey ash. . . who needs deviousness when you just crash through people to get what you want! (I've tried though, and found that Phil is also a steam-roller and we tend to butt heads and get nowhere if one is not devious). We went shopping for the front door handle today. . .I was all set to get the one that Phil wanted, but when we got to the shop they had them all on sale, AND THE ONE I WANTED WAS $40 CHEAPER! YAY! I WIN! Re: How Devious are you? 46Nov 01, 2009 12:19 am jodge But Pug. . . of course! I work in the mining communications industry and all our technicians have data cabling licenses. I have had a few wins (such as Colorbond roofing...) which I really wanted - was a freebie... by sitting on google for hours talking about the relative benefits (I just like the look!) for safety and security etc etc... He kept talking about thermal mass as being the reason he liked concrete tiles and I finally pointed out if keeping the heat out was such an issue, he's being kinda silly choosing black tiles now, isn't he!! Actually now I think about it, I might have been the reason we got a silver car instead of a black one, maybe I'm better at this than I realise Looking to start the journey of becoming an owner builder in SA.
