I am still deciding if i should cut out the bench where the fridge freezer to make way for a door. Looking foward to any suggestions Thanks in advance I have tried to upload the image but its not working (too big), ( its only a small house) Sorry!, but I have put it on my blog Cheers, Believe Re: My Small House Plan - extensions later 2Aug 07, 2009 8:43 pm believe Hi all, I have just got the drafts back and I am relative happy with the plans, I would like to know if you have any comments, there will be a change with the ensuite by moving the toilet wall back towards the shower area, (shower will be 1500.) I'd leave the fridge/freezer as it is, it really isn't that far to walk through the existing doorways to get where you need to go after all lol, and... you might regret not having that extra little bit of space in the kitchen. If you use www.photobucket.com to host your images, it'll make things easier to post pictures here, just use the supplied [img] tags. -S Re: My Small House Plan - extensions later 3Aug 07, 2009 9:05 pm Hi Believe, I think its definitely a good idea to move the toilet back. I, personally, would probably move the toilet to the space in between the shower & the wir & move the sink up into the top corner tho i'm not sure how the showerdoor would be best set up to open so you can get in & out easily without having to the do-si-do. I wouldnt cut the bench away to make a doorway for 2 reasons; *you can (almost) never have enough benchspace & *i think its a good idea to have the long walls to back furniture etc up to, esp since you have one short wall taken up with a window and the other with the door. But what a good little house plan and WOW! what gorgeous views you have!! lucky lucky !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers, and happy building. Issy Re: My Small House Plan - extensions later 4Aug 08, 2009 6:59 am I followed Michelle's advise on a forum to upload this photo, hoping it will work. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/7006/houseplan.jpg I spoke to the builder last night and he suggests that I should have a walkway/Door from the study to the main area of the house, thinking about it more, It would be a good idea, also he suggested to speak to the Kitchen builders to see if they have another suggestion for extra bench space How do you make extra bench space when you take away some bench! Thanks for the advise on the ensuite bathroom: It Helps! Cheers Believe Re: My Small House Plan - extensions later 6Aug 08, 2009 9:57 am What about if you take the area from the kitchen wall all the way to the end of the house where the laundry is and flip it? That will create a natural passage-way and you wont have to sacrifice any kitchen space. EDIT: I mean, flip it so that the kitchen is where the laundry is and the laundry is where the kitchen is now. I think that is the way it goes! Like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The way you have shown was the original plan, but because of the extentions that will be 2 bedrooms later on, at the end of the Lounge area, The walk to the bathroom would be a little further away, not too convenient. there is a double hung window, by the laundry so later on I can convert that to a doorway so this will be the entry into the late extentions. I liked the original plan, but due to extentions, this flipped the laundry, bathroom, kitchen area. great that people take the time to help. being new to all of this building houses, helpful advise is very much appreciated. I could be now looking at having a little more bench to have a " breakfast bar area" starting at the bathroom heading towards the study about 1.5 mtrs. Yet another suggestion, I looked at. but separating the bathroom and laundry, is not that ideal, as you have to walk past the kitchen to put your dirty washing in the Laundry, Re: My Small House Plan - extensions later 12Aug 08, 2009 2:49 pm I'm sure there's another arrangement of your kitchen that would let you still have the cupboard space and a door through the study area. My only concern would be that having a door/passageway through your study then makes it even smaller - more of a nook? Perhaps look at merging the kitchen and study together with clever built-in desk and bookshelves as an extension of your kitchen space? Re: My Small House Plan - extensions later 14Aug 08, 2009 4:51 pm Thats a good point you make, D&SG, I see what you are saying, but the Laundry and Toilet side by side suits me better, would prefer not to separate them, for the sake of a bench in the kitchen. All of this for a door and a bench I thought this would be easy, and it is, to a certain extent, but there is so much detail to consider, having never built before.
