Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 07, 2009 2:07 am Hi people Been having a look at Ebay. Not used it before and was wondering would anyone consider buying this type of product online. I think its made in China (must be) its a good price, $102 + $30 postage and I like it, but am a bit concerned as to quality in real life. Hey, sometimes things dont look like that when you get them, if you know what I mean. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Anyone know of a place in Melbourne that has imported vanities? Re: Would you buy this of Ebay? 2Aug 07, 2009 8:06 am I would look at his reviews from others that have bought from them and if that was ok i would buy it. If they have payment by paypal then if your unhappy and have problems with it and the seller wont do anything about it then you can make a complaint to them and it will be followed up for you. Re: Would you buy this of Ebay? 3Aug 07, 2009 8:14 am Not going to comment on whether it's wise to buy off ebay or not but.. One thing about the style of drain hole. Our sinks have this type of drain . Didn't realise this when we picked them as it was an upgrade picked from a picture. Our mistake not to go and look at them in real life. They look lovely. however... DS1 was feeling unwell late one night. ran into the bathroom and threw up in the sink... can you imagine how difficult it is to clean up in a sink with this kind of drain. The gap is very tiny. Everything had to be scraped out. There was no way to flush down even the tiniest bits. Then there was lots of scrubbing and disinfectant added around the drain rim because I was worried I hadn't got it clean. if i had my time again i wouldn't be buying a sink with this kind of drain. We have that style and we just pull up the plug bit in the middle when we want to have full drainage? Re: Would you buy this of Ebay? 6Aug 07, 2009 9:22 am I think ebay is good and you can pickup bargains. If buying products of this style for your home I would be wary that the quality as with most cases it's not always as you expect from the picture. They look nice many times, but then you get the end product they are sometimes thinner than expected or not as hard wearing or just look the cheap quality. Could also be the reverse and be a great bargain. Really depends what you are saving from a local product that you can touch and feel. I was pretty happy with the bargins I picked up and I absolutely love the bath spout I purchased from graysonline. The only thing I was disappointed with was the shower rail I bought, it just feels rather plasticy. You just need to make sure that whoever you buy from at Ebay has good reviews as the others have said. Reading the comments also gives you an indication as to whether products received were described correctly, speed of postage etc. I found that Sydney prices were a lot cheaper than Vic so was really happy with the prices I was paying for the goods. Re: Would you buy this of Ebay? 11Aug 07, 2009 2:35 pm Thanks people, some doubt about it. Looks good but my experience with this stuff from China is there are good and not so good manufactures of the same product. Maybe it’s cheap for a reason. To be honest I did not consider the sick factor. I have heard you can get a different plug; of course it’s an up grade, a spew plug. It allows undigested vegetables like carrots & corn to float freely away (man I don’t remember eating that). YUK lol ……… I like this type of drain plug, push down. As you don’t have to look for that, ugly plastic thing you can never find. One thing I have found the depth of the new fashionable basins are very shallow. Some would only hold about 10cm of water at the deepest spot. Should n't they be deeper so you can fill it, conserve water and not leave the tap running. erinleigh mattydals the tap sorta looks like a willy, King Willy Matty Not sure who’s willy you are comparing it to, however, They don’t call me KING Willy for no reason. lol............ Stressed 85 Thanks will check then out. I guess at the end of the day it’s only a basin not a major part of the home, however, sometimes fashion & practical don’t go together.
