We didnt get them but just thinking about summertime..the only fly screen we have now comes with the bi-fold kitchen window that can be disguised when not needed... Re: FLY SCREENS - TACKY?? 2May 29, 2007 3:26 pm Yep - security screens on downstairs sliding doors and steel mesh on upstairs so that we can have airflow when the cool southerlies come by in summer. Re: FLY SCREENS - TACKY?? 3May 29, 2007 3:35 pm Yep absolutely! We will be putting security screens on all doors (the nicer ones without the metal grill pattern) and normal flyscreens on the windows!
We have aluminium french doors in our present house with no flyscreens and it drives me batty trying to keep the flies out in summer- though I have a 2 year old son so he is constantly in and out all day not helping the cause!! Re: FLY SCREENS - TACKY?? 4May 29, 2007 3:41 pm Flyscreens don't look great but they are essential imo. You just have to shop around until you find something nice.

Ie the screen roller system was hidden mounted vertically on the right and screen was puled out to the left to cover the doorway as required, ie if one or 2 doors were open in a french door system. Very neat and innovaive idea that was hidden away and invisible when not required/in use. Steve Re: FLY SCREENS - TACKY?? 7May 29, 2007 4:46 pm We have had fly screens installed on all openable windows. I used to think that they looked awful too but it actually took me two days to realise that we have had ours installed! You can barely notice them at all - they look great and will keep the flies out in the summer ) Re: FLY SCREENS - TACKY?? 8May 29, 2007 6:21 pm Yak Chat - I've seen those too - absolutely fantastic - great for when you have a big party and all the doors open.
No good though if you're in a bush fire area (like we are) - must have steel mesh - darn it! Re: FLY SCREENS - TACKY?? 9May 29, 2007 7:38 pm Hi
